
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and its Chinese joint venture company, Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFN), officially launched the new EV SUV “NX8” in the Chinese market on April 8, 2026 (local time). The new NX8 is a mid-size EV SUV that follows the Chinese-made plug-in hybrid sedan “N6” and battery electric mid-size sedan “N7” as the third model in the N series.
Developed with the concept of “an ideal SUV for all families,” the NX8 comes standard with 71 equipment items in three areas: comfort, advanced equipment, and safety, across all grades, while offering a competitive price range of 15.99 to 20.99 million yuan (approximately 3.2 to 4.2 million yen). The EV model will be available from April 8, and the range extender model will be delivered in sequence from late May 2026.
The new NX8 offers two types of powertrains, battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and range extenders (REEVs), to cater to the diverse needs of the Chinese market. The EV model is available in three grades: “580 Pro,” “580 Max,” and “650 Max,” while the REEV model is available in three grades: “150 Pro,” “150 Max,” and “310 Max,” for a total of six grades. 
The EV model has a maximum range of 650 kilometers (CLTC mode) and supports 800V and 5C ultra-fast charging, allowing for approximately 300 kilometers of range to be charged in just six minutes. The REEV model achieves an EV range of 310 kilometers and a total range of 1,450 kilometers, with a fuel economy of 4.51 L/100km (approximately 22.17 km/L) during gasoline-powered driving.
The interior of the new NX8 is designed with the concept of “every seat is the main seat,” pursuing a comfortable space for all occupants. The rear seat has a height of 1,285 mm, the highest in its class, providing ample space for passengers. The seats are also equipped with advanced functions, including AI zero-gravity seats 2.0 and electric reclining seats.
The new NX8 features a large luggage space of 773 liters and a dual-opening cold and warm storage box that can maintain temperatures between -6°C and 55°C. The infotainment system includes a 15.6-inch dual display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip, and 256GB of storage, providing a smooth and comfortable operating environment.
The vehicle is also equipped with advanced safety features, including a cloud shield battery 2.0 that has passed 146 battery safety tests, and a 2000MPa high-strength steel and steel-aluminum hybrid structure. The new NX8 also features a highly advanced driving assistance system developed in collaboration with Momenta, a Chinese technology company specializing in AI technology.
