The Mazda CX-3, a compact SUV, is expected to undergo a full model change in 2027. The current model has been in production since 2015, and its production base has been shifted to Thailand. We will provide an in-depth explanation of the latest information on the new CX-3, including its design, body size, interior, powertrain, and safety features.
The new CX-3’s exterior design will be significantly changed, adopting the latest design language used in the CX-60 and next-generation CX-5.
The main design changes include a coupe SUV style, a more streamlined body line, a stronger accent, and a more refined styling.
The new CX-3 is expected to have a more SUV-like presence than the current model.
The new CX-3 will have a larger body size than the current model, with an expected length, width, and height of 4,310mm, 1,765mm, and 1,540mm, respectively. The wheelbase will be approximately 2,600mm. This increase in size will improve the comfort and usability of the vehicle, particularly in the rear seats and luggage space.
The new CX-3 will feature a mild hybrid system as standard, which will improve fuel efficiency. The expected powertrain lineup includes a 1.5L gasoline engine with a mild hybrid system, a 1.5L diesel engine with a mild hybrid system, and a 1.5L SKYACTIV-X engine. The fuel efficiency is expected to be around 21km/L for the gasoline model and 26km/L for the diesel model.
The new CX-3 will be equipped with the latest advanced safety features, including a preventive safety technology package called “i-ACTIVSENSE”. The main safety features include an advanced smart brake support system, a traffic jam assist function, a front cross-traffic alert, and a blind spot monitoring system.
The expected price range for the new CX-3 is between 2.4 million and 4.5 million yen, depending on the model and trim. The current CX-3’s sales have been sluggish, with only 8,045 units sold in 2024. The production of the current model is expected to end in February 2026.
