In the course of investigating the type approval application requested by the government, Toyota Motor Corporation discovered that testing methods for seven vehicle models had been conducted in a manner that did not comply with the government’s standards. The affected models are three currently in production ( Corolla Fielder / Axio , Yaris Cross ) and four models that have already been discontinued (Crown, Isis, Sienta, RX).

Toyota deeply apologizes for the concern and inconvenience caused to our customers and other parties involved. Internal testing has confirmed that the affected vehicles meet the performance requirements of regulations, so customers who already own them can continue to use them with peace of mind.

Regarding the three models currently in production ( Corolla Fielder / Axio , Yaris Cross ), shipments and sales will be temporarily suspended starting today, June 3, 2024, and appropriate measures will be taken under government guidance.

Toyota will continue to work toward making ever-better cars and strive to be a company that is trusted by our customers and all stakeholders. We would like to once again offer our deepest apologies to our customers and all stakeholders.

Toyota will hold a press conference regarding the above details at 5:00 PM on June 3, 2024.

Chairman of the Board Akio Toyoda and General Manager of the Customer First Promotion Department Masashi Miyamoto will be speaking.
