Subaru of America has announced its sales figures for May 2024. Compared to sales in 2023, the new Forester and Solterra performed well, with sales up 61.4% and 73%, respectively. However, the SUBARU BRZ showed a downward trend, with sales down 45%.
Subaru sales in the US
In the US, the EV model Solterra performed extremely well, selling 1,456 units, a record high, up 254.6% from May 2023 sales. Following the Outback, the Forester also saw sales increase by 45% to 15,345 units. The Forester has already undergone a full model change in the US, which is thought to have contributed to the sales increase.
On the other hand, one thing that is worrying is that BRZ sales are down 45% compared to the previous year, with a cumulative total of 1,171 units in 2024. Future trends are of interest. Improvements to the BRZ are planned in Japan, and similar improvements are expected in the US.

A word from the editorial department
Subaru’s recent sales figures for the U.S. revealed that while SUV models are doing well, sales of sports models are declining. This is a trend seen with other automakers, but if sales numbers fall too much, manufacturers may be forced to discontinue the model, which is very worrying.
On the other hand, the new Forester, which is doing well in the US, has not yet been released in Japan, but once it is released in Japan, it has the potential to become just as popular. We are very much looking forward to its release.
