On July 10, 2025, Subaru announced the release of an improved model of the mid-class “Impreza” and a new special edition vehicle, the “Impreza ST/ST-H Style Edition,” in Japan. Prices range from 2,744,500 yen to 3,514,500 yen, and the new Impreza, which has undergone a minor change to the C-type through annual improvements, has become even more appealing with the addition of new body colors and enhanced safety equipment.
Major changes to the new Impreza C-type
New body color “Citron Yellow Pearl” added
The new body color “Citron Yellow Pearl” added with the annual improvement is a vivid color that accentuates the sporty character of the Impreza. On the other hand, the three colors “Daybreak Blue Pearl,” “Oasis Blue,” and “Sunblaze Pearl” have been discontinued, and the color lineup has been streamlined.

Significantly improved safety equipment
The new Impreza C-type has significantly enhanced driving assistance functions. All grades are equipped with standard features such as “Emergency Pre-Crash Steering,” “Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (rear side warning support system),” and “Emergency Lane Keep Assist,” providing a safer driving environment.
Of particular note is the strengthened cooperation between the “Driver Abnormality Response System” and the “Driver Monitoring System.” If the driver is distracted or drowsy for an extended period of time, the system will determine that something is wrong and will alert the driver by coasting down or vibrating with pulse brakes. In addition, the timing of the hazard lights flashing has been accelerated, enabling an early warning to surrounding vehicles.
Pricing for the new Impreza C
| grade | Drive system | Price (yen) |

| ST (2L gasoline) | 4WD | 3,014,000 |

Price of the special edition “Style Edition”
The newly introduced special edition “ST Style Edition” and “ST-H Style Edition” models feature vivid red accents that express the joy of driving. The ST Style Edition is priced at 3,096,500 yen for the FF model and 3,311,000 yen for the 4WD model, while the ST-H Style Edition is priced at 3,300,000 yen for the FF model and 3,514,500 yen for the 4WD model.

Powertrain and specifications
2L gasoline engine
The horizontally opposed 4-cylinder 2L gasoline engine produces a maximum output of 154ps and a maximum torque of 19.7kgm. Combined with a CVT, it achieves smooth acceleration and excellent fuel economy.
2L e-BOXER Hybrid
The e-BOXER hybrid system combines a 2L horizontally opposed 4-cylinder “FB20” engine (148ps/20.0kgm) with an electric motor (13.6ps/6.6kgm). The motor assist is primarily used to increase low-speed torque, achieving both powerful driving and low fuel consumption.
fuel efficiency
The fuel economy performance (WLTC mode) of the new Impreza C is as follows:
- 2L gasoline engine: 14.0km/L
- 2L e-BOXER Hybrid: 16.6km/L
The adoption of the latest hybrid system has resulted in improved fuel economy compared to the previous generation model. In addition, by eliminating the 1.6L gasoline engine and consolidating it into a 2L gasoline engine with ample torque, both driving performance and environmental friendliness have been achieved.
Exterior and interior design
Exterior
The exterior of the new Impreza C-type has been designed to deepen the brand design and boldly highlight the characteristics of the car. The headlights have a sharper style than the previous model, and are combined with a more powerfully designed engine hood and bumper.

Interior
The interior is equipped with a large 11.6-inch display and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, strengthening connectivity with smartphones. The seats are new front seats that incorporate medical knowledge and support the pelvis by pressing down on the sacrum, suppressing head shaking, improving ride comfort and reducing fatigue.

Evolution of safety equipment “EyeSight”
The EyeSight system installed in the new Impreza C-type has an angle of view that is roughly double that of the previous stereo camera, allowing it to recognize a wider and farther range. Thanks to improvements to the image recognition and control software, the system has been changed to a windshield-mounted type, and a lens hood has been adopted to prevent accidental contact with the lens.
Furthermore, a new monocular camera has been adopted that can recognize motorcycles and pedestrians at a wider angle than the new stereo camera when driving at low speeds, significantly expanding the situations in which the pre-crash braking system can respond.
Body size and maneuverability
| item | size |
|---|---|
| Total length x width x height | 4,475×1,780×1,515mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,670mm |
| ground clearance | 135mm |
| Vehicle weight (2L gasoline) | 1,380 kg |
| Vehicle weight (2L e-BOXER) | 1,530 kg |
The body size of the new Impreza C has not changed significantly from the previous generation, and the easy-to-handle design has been maintained. The adoption of a full inner frame structure has strengthened torsional rigidity, improving ride comfort and handling stability.
Release date and future developments
The improved Subaru Impreza C-type was officially announced on July 10, 2025. By improving its flagship model, the Impreza, Subaru aims to further enhance synergy with other models such as the Crosstrek and Levorg.
The history and positioning of the Impreza
The Subaru Impreza is a passenger car whose first generation was released in 1992. Positioned as a lower-end model of the Legacy, it gained significant recognition through its success in the WRC (World Rally Championship). The current sixth-generation model will undergo a full model change in April 2023, and by adopting the new-generation Subaru Global Platform, it will significantly improve driving performance and safety.
With this C-type minor change, the Impreza has become even more attractive with the addition of new body colors, enhanced safety features, and the introduction of special edition vehicles. The price range has been broadened from 2,744,500 yen to 3,514,500 yen, providing a lineup that can meet a variety of needs.
The new Impreza C, the culmination of Subaru’s technological capabilities, continues to offer unique value in the Japanese mid-class sedan and hatchback market.
