About the new Civic minor change

Civic minor change model
In this minor change, the exterior design has been revamped, with the front grille, bumper, and taillights now having a more aggressive and sporty impression. A new grade, “RS,” which aims to provide the joy of light and agile handling, has been added to the gasoline model. A new body color, “Seabed Blue Pearl,” has also been added.
Safety features include an enhanced “sudden acceleration suppression function” and a collision mitigation brake that can recognize vehicles, motorcycles, and bicycles going straight when turning right at an intersection. An “auto brake hold memory function” has also been added. The sports grade “Civic RS” no longer has the 6-speed manual transmission that was available on the previous gasoline-powered “LX” and “EX” models, and the manual transmission is now exclusive to the newly introduced “RS”. Like the gasoline-powered models, the hybrid model has also been changed to two grades: “eEX” and “eLX”.
Honda SENSING safety equipment has also been improved, with the addition of a sudden acceleration suppression function, providing a safer driving experience.
New Civic minor change: RS grade added

Civic RS exterior
The “RS” grade features a dedicated suspension and large-diameter disc rotor brakes, achieving lightness and high controllability. In addition, black-decorated exterior parts, an “RS” exclusive emblem, and 18-inch aluminum wheels emphasize a sporty impression. This highlights a more powerful and masculine style.

Civic RS exterior
The engine is a 1.5L VTEC TURBO. It employs a rev-matching system that automatically controls engine speed in accordance with deceleration, supporting smooth manual driving. Furthermore, a single-mass lightweight flywheel with a 30% reduction in moment of inertia achieves quicker rotation reduction, allowing for lighter gear changes and a sense of unity with the car. Furthermore, the lightweight flywheel and rev-matching system improve shifting comfort, further enhancing the enjoyment of sporty driving. The 6-speed manual transmission is exclusive to the “RS” model, and has been discontinued in the standard model.

The suspension employs stiffer springs and stabilizers, as well as solid rubber compliance bushings, which lowers the ground clearance by 5mm and provides even sportier driving performance.

Civic RS interior
In the interior, the “RS” exclusive sports seats and steering wheel with red stitching create a sporty atmosphere. The meter panel design has also been revamped, improving visibility and functionality. In addition, a new “INDIVIDUAL” mode has been added, and four drive mode switches (NORMAL / SPORT / ECON / INDIVIDUAL) can be used to set the car to your liking.
This minor change has made the distinction between the “RS” and the regular model even clearer.
New Civic minor change body color
Premium Crystal Blue Metallic has been discontinued and Seabed Blue Pearl has been adopted.
The body color lineup includes five colors: Crystal Black Pearl, Platinum White Pearl (+38,500 yen), Sonic Gray Pearl (+38,500 yen), Seabed Blue Pearl (+38,500 yen) NEW , and Premium Crystal Red Metallic (+60,500 yen).

Additionally, the e:HEV model has been changed from the previous single grade to two grades: “e:HEV LX” and “e:HEV EX.” The interior now features a bright, light gray interior that evokes the quiet, smooth driving characteristic of hybrids. The “e:HEV EX” grade comes standard with an electric panoramic sunroof, providing excellent ventilation and a sense of openness.
New Civic minor change safety features
The Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) has expanded its operating range and targets, supporting collision avoidance and damage mitigation over a wider area. When turning right at an intersection, the detection targets have been expanded to include not only automobiles and pedestrians but also bicycles and motorcycles, and when crossing from the left and right while driving straight, it can detect automobiles in addition to pedestrians and bicycles.
This minor change has newly adopted a “sudden acceleration suppression function.” In addition, the advanced safety driving support system with improved performance supports driving in various situations.
Honda SENSING
It comes standard with Honda SENSING, but is equipped with a more advanced model than the previous model that is also capable of detecting pedestrians at night.

A word from the editorial department
For Honda, the Civic is a global strategic vehicle and a highly popular model. This time, a new grade “RS” that focuses on driving performance will be added.
As of May 2024, orders for the Civic Type R are still temporarily suspended , making it difficult to obtain, so the RS, with its increased maximum output and special equipment, may be a car that makes you think, “Maybe this is a good option?”
This minor change has further improved the sporty driving performance and sophisticated design of the new Civic. We can’t wait for its release on September 12th.
