On October 29, 2025, at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 (JMS2025) held at Tokyo Big Sight, Lexus made its world debut with the LEXUS LS Coupe Concept, a groundbreaking concept car that showcases the potential of its next-generation flagship model. This crossover-style four-door coupe, which stands out from the conventional LS sedan, is attracting attention as a new challenge for the luxury brand.
What is the LS Coupe Concept? A model that symbolizes the diversity of the next-generation LS

LS Coupe Concept
At this year’s JMS2025, Lexus evolved its concept from “Luxury Sedan” to ” Luxury Space ,” presenting a vision of the future of the LS brand through three concept cars.

- LS Concept : A six-wheeled, ultra-large luxury minivan
- LS Micro Concept : A compact three-wheeled urban model
- LS Coupe Concept : Crossover-style four-door coupe
Among these, the LS Coupe Concept proposes a completely new form of flagship model that combines sportiness and high quality.
Exterior design: Spindle body and elegant coupe form
A front mask that inherits the Lexus symbolism

Lexus LS Coupe Concept
The front design of the LS Coupe Concept features a “spindle body” that is an evolution of the iconic Lexus spindle grille . Its outline is framed by LED daytime running lights, creating an advanced and striking front face.
The headlights feature a horizontal triple LED arrangement, expressing the sharp gaze that is characteristic of Lexus. While inheriting the tradition of previous LS models, the car also adopts a future-oriented design language.
Dynamic crossover style

Lexus LS Coupe Concept
The side view is characterized by a flowing roofline typical of a coupe. However, it is not just a coupe; the lifted vehicle height and large-diameter aluminum wheels (estimated to be 21-22 inches) give it a strong presence as a crossover.
This concept of “combining a high-quality, formal appearance with dynamic emotion” and “the duality of a sporty, taut exterior and a spacious interior” indicates the new direction of luxury that Lexus is aiming for.
Unique rear design and innovative tailgate

Lexus LS Coupe Concept
The rear end features inverted “U”-shaped taillights, which contrast with the “U” shape of the LS Concept (six-wheel model) . The unique lighting pattern enhances the vehicle’s presence at night.
Another thing worth noting is the tailgate opening and closing mechanism . Unlike a typical SUV, the entire rear hatch opens, but only the rear end opens, adopting a unique structure. When opened and closed, a wood-grain storage space appears, achieving both practicality and design.
Interior design: A fusion of Japanese aesthetics and cutting-edge technology
Double doors provide a special riding experience

Lexus LS Coupe Concept
One of the greatest features of the LS Coupe Concept is its use of Rolls-Royce-style coach doors . The front and rear doors open opposite each other, significantly improving ease of entry and exit and creating a truly special riding experience.
The B-pillarless design creates a breathtaking sense of openness when the doors are fully opened, exuding the kind of hospitality that is appropriate for a luxury sedan.
Next-generation cockpit: yoke steering and integrated display

Lexus LS Coupe Concept
The driver’s seat area uses the same next-generation cockpit as the six-wheeled LS Concept , with a large display that combines meters and navigation, and a yoke steering wheel (a U-shaped handle instead of a circular one).
The passenger seat is equipped with a retractable wide display that can be stored when not in use and deployed as needed, creating a smart space.
An interior concept that respects individuality

According to Lexus, the interior of the LS Coupe Concept aims to be ” an interior space where each occupant can enjoy their own unique experience .”
The symbol of this is the seatback monitor integrated into the rear seats . By integrating it into the seat, rather than being attached to the ceiling or headrest as in the past, we have achieved both design and functionality, allowing each passenger to enjoy their own independent entertainment space.
The car also features an asymmetrical seat design with different colors for the driver’s seat and passenger seat , expressing both individuality and harmony.
Japanese hospitality: Attention to detail

Lexus LS Coupe Concept
The car is also dotted throughout with a Japanese touch, typical of a Japanese car manufacturer .

- Stylish drink holder : Design reminiscent of traditional Japanese crafts
- Four fans installed on the ceiling : a unique mechanism that combines air conditioning and spatial presentation
- Wood-grain materials used : creating a warm and luxurious space

These details create a homey yet sophisticated hospitality space that is characteristic of Lexus.

The future revealed by the LS Coupe Concept: LS is more than just a sedan
The three LS concepts unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 show that Lexus is considering a broader approach than ever before for its next-generation flagship model.
Traditionally, the LS has been synonymous with ” luxury sedan ,” but these concept cars are:
- Expansion-oriented : 6-wheel super-large minivan (LS Concept)
- Downsizing : Urban Compact Mobility (LS Micro Concept)
- Crossover-oriented : Sporty four-door coupe (LS Coupe Concept)
Three different directions were presented.
This symbolizes a shift in concept from “Luxury Sedan” to ” Luxury Space ,” and can be said to be an exploration of a new form of luxury that responds to the diversification of customer lifestyles and values.

Lexus LS Micro Concept
This single-seater autonomous concept car is designed for urban mobility. It features a unique mechanism that allows the cabin to open like a jewel box, and while compact, it pursues the high quality that is characteristic of Lexus.
Summary: A new era for the Lexus LS begins
