The new 2024 model of the Freed was announced on May 9, 2024 , and advance reservations have begun, revealing details. After considering purchasing the car, there are some disappointing aspects. We’ve summarized these points in detail here, so we hope you’ll find them useful when making your purchase.

New Freed: Disappointing points
I actually considered purchasing it and did some research, and have compiled a list of the things I am dissatisfied with.
1. High starting price
The Freed is priced between 2,508,000 and 3,437,500 yen, while the gasoline Sienta has a cheaper base grade X starting price of 1,995,000 yen, so the Sienta may be recommended for those looking for a cheaper purchase. Although there are differences in equipment, the Sienta is undoubtedly recommended for those looking for an affordable model .

2. The Freed AIR grade does not include a two-row, five-seater model.
As you can see from the price list above, the Freed AIR grade does not have a 5-seater model. If you want a 5-seater model, you have to choose the Crosstar. If you don’t like the exterior, the Freed is out of the question, so it might be a good idea to have a 7-seater Freed AIR lineup when the car is improved.
3. There is no 4WD model available for the 7-seater Freed.
As you can see from the price list above, there is no 4WD model available for the 7-seater models in any grade. If you choose the 4WD model, you will have to choose between the 5-seater and 6-seater versions.
4. There is a package option that can only be installed on the 6-seater Freed e:HEV AIR EX and e:HEV CROSSTAR.

The factory-installed options (adaptive driving beam + reverse exit support + 360-degree multi-view camera + LED cornering lights) are, for some reason, only available on the hybrid six-seater Freed e:HEV AIR EX and e:HEV CROSSTAR, which is a strange situation. Since these are optional features, it would be nice if they were available on more models.
5. Blind Spot Information isn’t available on all grades

Blind Spot Information
Nowadays, blind spot information (blind spot monitor), which seems to be becoming standard even for other companies, seems to be unavailable for some reason on the Air grade. Well… like the above equipment, I wish safety equipment could be selected for all grades.
6. If you install a rear cooler, you can’t select the rear seat monitor.

rear seat monitor
I was happy that the car finally had a rear cooler, but the rear seat monitor isn’t an option. It seems to be a structural problem. However, I’m sure there are many people who would have liked to have one installed, either because they feel bad for their kids getting hot, or because they think their kids would like to watch TV or videos while traveling.
7. The Crosstar’s two-row, five-seater model does not have a rear cooler.

Rear cooler
The Crosstar 2-row 5-seater model does not have a rear cooler option. It may be that the rear cooler is being considered on the assumption that it will be a 3-row model, but personally I think it would be fine to have one considering the second row.
8. If you choose a rear seat monitor, you must have the manufacturer option of an 11.3-inch navigation system.

Freed 11.4-inch display
Only models with an 11.3-inch navigation system can have a rear-seat monitor. I think it would be fine to have an 8-inch or 9-inch navigation system installed.
9. The AIR 2WD does not have heated seats.

The base grade AIR does not have a seat heater option, so if you want to add seat heaters, you will need to choose another grade.
10. The body color options vary depending on the grade.

FREED CROSSTAR
Not all body colors are available for all grades. The base grade AIR does not come with “Crystal Black Pearl” or “Twilight Mist Black Pearl.” Also, the Crosstar does not have “Fjord Mist Blue Pearl” or “Luna Silver Metallic” in its lineup, and conversely, “Desert Beige Pearl” is an exclusive color for the Crosstar, so please be aware of this.

The interior color is actually slightly different.
Both interior colors are greige, but there are differences in the way the color is applied between the base grade AIR and AIR EX.

Finally, a word from the editorial team
This time, I’ve summarized the points that I found interesting. I’m a little worried that Honda might get angry, but these are my honest thoughts. The Freed comes standard with an electric parking brake and auto brake hold on all models, the hybrid system has been updated to the latest e:HEV, and the interior space has been increased, making it an even more attractive model. This Freed is a model that meets modern needs. Its appeal will no doubt continue to attract attention. I hope this information will be helpful when you consider purchasing one.
