On January 11, 2024, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association (JADA) and the All Japan Light Motor Vehicle Association (ZENK) announced their preliminary figures for passenger car sales by model and light four-wheel vehicle sales by common name for fiscal year 2023. This time, we’ve compiled a top 5 annual sales ranking for Honda vehicles.
[2023] Honda Annual Sales Ranking
Among passenger cars, the Freed took the lead with 77,562 units. In second place was the Vezel with 59,187 units, and in third place was the Fit with 57,033 units. None of the top three cars exceeded 100,000 units. And among light vehicles, the overwhelming leader was the N-BOX, with an astonishing 231,385 units.
Honda’s N-BOX series of minicars will surpass 2.5 million units in cumulative sales by the end of 2023, the fastest ever for the company. Furthermore, sales of the N-BOX for fiscal year 2023 (January to December) reached 231,385 units, making it the top-selling new car, ranking first for the second consecutive year. It also marks the ninth consecutive year that the car has topped the list for new minicar sales.
Honda’s sales performance in Japan has been very disappointing, and the key will be how much they can increase sales with the Freed , which is scheduled to undergo a full model change in 2024 , and the ZR-V , which will be released on April 21, 2023 .
