Bugatti is set to unveil a new hypercar on June 20, 2024 , that will carry on the tradition of the Veyron and Chiron . While production of the Chiron recently ended , the as-yet-unnamed model will be equipped with a new hybrid naturally aspirated V16 engine and will make its world debut on June 20, 2024.
The new hypercar is described as “an eternal symbol” (Pour l’éternité in French).
The Molsheim brand describes the new hypercar as “An Eternal Icon” (Pour l’éternité in French), hinting at a possible name. Bugatti says the model has been designed from the ground up around the pillars of “beauty, luxury and performance” and features a “totally bespoke” appearance. The company cites the Type 57 SC Atlantic, Type 41 Royale and Type 35 as styling inspirations.
Official teasers highlight the sculpted hood, followed by Bugatti’s trademark macaroon-adorned horseshoe grille, but previously spotted camouflaged prototypes have also revealed more details about the new Bugatti’s design, which borrows elements from previous models while featuring a more refined body.
The distinctive C-shaped lines are carried over from the Chiron and combined with slim LEDs at both ends, there’s also an active rear spoiler, a huge diffuser and an aerodynamically optimised rear deck reminiscent of the Chiron Super Sport.
All-new chassis and powertrain
According to US publication CARSCOOP , Bugatti has suggested that the chassis will be entirely new and that the model won’t rely on the Chiron’s underpinnings. These underpinnings are also used in luxury models like the Divo, Centodieci, La Voiture Noire, Mistral, and Bolide. Most notably, the quad-turbocharged W16 engine will be replaced with a new naturally aspirated V16 powertrain, complemented by three electric motors.
The powertrain was developed in collaboration with Cosworth, and features an 8.3-liter V16 engine that revs to 9,000 rpm and produces around 1,000 horsepower (1,014 PS) from the internal combustion engine (ICE) alone. Three electric motors are expected to add an additional 340 horsepower (345 PS) each, for a total output of around 1,800 horsepower (1,825 PS). Power is expected to be sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
