Volvo Car Japan has made minor changes to its flagship SUV, the XC90, and will launch the latest model in the Japanese market on February 13, 2025, and sales have begun.

The front grille features a graphical pattern of overlapping diagonal lines extending from two directions. Furthermore, slim matrix design LED Thor’s Hammer headlights, a sculpted bonnet, and an improved front bumper create a front face that is both bold and sophisticated.

The new XC90 incorporates the next-generation user experience featured in Volvo’s latest EV models, the EX90 and EX30. The center display has been enlarged from the previous 9 inches to 11.2 inches, and pixel density has been improved by 21%, resulting in a clearer and easier-to-operate interface.
Furthermore, like the latest EV models, it supports over-the-air software updates (OTA), allowing it to be constantly updated with the latest software, making it a car that continues to evolve over time.
A powertrain that combines environmental friendliness and driving performance
The new XC90 is available in two powertrain options: a mild hybrid and a plug-in hybrid, which combine environmental friendliness and driving performance.
The mild hybrid model “B5 AWD” uses a new Miller cycle engine, improving fuel efficiency by approximately 5.3%. In addition, new dampers are fitted as standard, improving ride comfort.
The plug-in hybrid model, the T8 AWD Plug-in Hybrid, combines a high-output electric motor with an efficient internal combustion engine to achieve powerful acceleration and excellent environmental performance. With an EV range of 73 km, it can be driven solely on electricity for most everyday situations. For long-distance travel, the motor and engine can be used together, extending the range to over 900 km.
Protecting passengers with comprehensive safety equipment
Volvo’s commitment to safety continues in the new XC90, with an advanced safety cage and comprehensive active safety features to help protect occupants from any hazard.
Using radar and a front camera, the system detects lane departures and guides the vehicle safely back into its lane, prevents inadvertent road drifting, and provides braking and steering functions to avoid or mitigate collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and large animals.
Spacious interior space and versatile seating arrangements
The new XC90 boasts a spacious interior with a body size of 4955mm in length, 1960mm in width, and 1775mm in height. It has three rows of seats and can accommodate seven people, and its versatile seating arrangements can meet a variety of needs.

The second-row seats can slide and recline individually, and the third-row seats have enough space for adults to sit comfortably. The luggage space is also large, allowing for flexible use depending on the amount of luggage.
