Toyota USA officially announced on June 6, 2024, that it will release the 2025 model of the new crossover SUV “Crown Signia (Japanese name: Crown Estate )” in the summer of 2024. The price will be between $43,590 and $47,990 (approximately 6.84 million to 7.53 million yen).

The Crown Signia is the US model of the Crown Estate , which was recently released in Japan . To avoid the “wagon” image, the car was given the flashier name “Crown Signia” in the US. For many years, the Crown was a Japanese-only vehicle, but it will now be sold in approximately 40 countries and regions around the world, including the US and China. This will be the first time the car has been sold in the US in 50 years.

Toyota’s New Crown Signia Exterior

It inherits the design common to the Crown family, including the distinctive “hammerhead” front fascia, smooth contours, and slender LED taillights. Its short overhangs and low roofline give it a sportier look than a typical SUV. While specific dimensions have not yet been announced, the prototype measures 4,930mm in length and 1,880mm in width, slightly smaller than the Highlander. It uses the TNGA-K platform.

Toyota’s new Crown Signia interior

The interior resembles the Crown Crossover, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment display. The system supports over-the-air (OTA) updates and offers connected services. Standard leather-trimmed, heated, and ventilated front seats (adjustable to three positions) provide exceptional comfort. Eight-way power-adjustable driver and passenger seats ensure a comfortable drive. The five-passenger layout provides ample space for rear passengers.

The interior is available in either “Saddle Tan” or “Black,” both with bronze accents, and there are five exterior colors available, along with a choice of 19-inch or 21-inch wheels, depending on the trim level.

To minimize interior noise, acoustic glass is also used on the driver-side and passenger-side windscreens. Further soundproofing is provided by insulation and body sealant throughout the structure, including in the engine bay and passenger compartment, under the carpets, and above the headliner.

Toyota’s New Crown Signia Powertrain

The Japanese version is available in both hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, while the US version only offers the hybrid (HEV). The self-charging hybrid system features a 2.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine mated to dual electric motors, delivering a combined maximum output of 240 horsepower. This power is transmitted to all four wheels via an electronic on-demand AWD system via an eCVT (electronically controlled continuously variable transmission). The 230.4V bipolar NiMH traction battery has a capacity of 5.0 Ahr and stores electricity for use by the motor-generator. Normal, Eco, and Sport driving modes are also standard. This is enhanced by an electronically controlled braking system with active cornering assist.
