BMW’s new “MINI Aceman” BEV crossover model to be unveiled at the China Motor Show on April 24, 2024

BMW Group’s MINI is scheduled to unveil the new crossover EV “MINI Aceman” on April 24, 2024. This new model is scheduled to be unveiled for the first time at the Beijing International Automobile Exhibition (Beijing Motor Show 2024), China’s largest automobile exhibition, which will be held in China from April 25 to May 4, 2024.

The Countryman appears to be a smaller, sportier version of the new Countryman, with proportions that make it look more like a subcompact hatch than an SUV. It incorporates MINI’s modern design ethos, featuring angular lighting units, an octagonal grille, and pronounced fenders. It also retains traditional MINI elements, such as the distinctive wraparound greenhouse and short overhangs.

The body size is 4,075mm long, 1,754mm wide, 1,495mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,606mm. Compared to the Mini Cooper, the wheelbase is 80mm wider and the overall length is 217mm. Even so, the Aceman is 354mm longer than the new Countryman.

The MINI Aceman is close in body size to the MINI 5-door hatchback, and it is clear that the MINI Countryman is quite large in comparison.

The new MINI Aceman features a large, circular center display that uses cutting-edge OLED technology. It features high-quality glass with a diameter of 240mm and optimized, highly sensitive touch functionality. Intuitive operation is possible, similar to using a smartphone. In the main menu, each function is displayed horizontally as a widget, and can be operated by swiping or touching. The circular OLED display not only functions as an instrument panel, but also manages all operations, including the navigation system with AR functionality, media, telephone, air conditioning, and various settings.

The new MINI Aceman comes standard with cutting-edge advanced safety features such as Driving Assist (Active Cruise Control (with Stop & Go function), Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Collision Avoidance/Damage Mitigation Brake (with Accident Avoidance Steering), and Cross Traffic Warning), which have been made more precise and accurate thanks to the high-performance camera and radar, and the high analytical capabilities of a high-performance processor.

The entry-level MINI Aceman model is equipped with a single front-mounted electric motor producing 181 hp (135 kW/184 PS) and a 40.7 kWh battery pack, while the MINI Aceman S is equipped with a more powerful 215 hp (160 kW/218 PS) motor and a larger 54.2 kWh battery.

New EV “MINI Aceman” completes rigorous test run

The MINI Aceman has already successfully completed testing in the Arctic Circle, and the crossover model is now completing its final tests in the intense sun and heat of the desert. The tests also focus on the demanding aspects of electric vehicles, with air conditioning, battery charging and cooling, drive and control devices being intensively tested in dusty desert sand at temperatures of up to 50°C. The lightly camouflaged prototype of the all-electric crossover is almost ready to hit the public roads.
