Suzuki new “Solio” minor change with some specification changes

A more stylish exterior and a more comfortable interior

The new Solio has a completely new exterior design. The standard model features a new grille with chrome parts arranged in three tiers, giving it a smart impression. The custom model “Solio Bandit” has evolved into a wide, powerful style with a large grille, U-shaped chrome parts, and emphasized bumper sides.

For the interior, the instrument panel ornament has been changed to brown, enhancing the sense of quality. For the Solio Bandit, the air conditioning side louvers and door garnish have been changed to titanium silver, creating a sporty atmosphere. In addition, all models are equipped with a navigation system that uses a 9-inch display, and a smartphone-linked memory navigation system that is newly equipped with drive recorder linkage, HDMI input support, and Suzuki Connect linkage functions, as a manufacturer option. It also enhances convenience and safety with features such as an SOS button, automatic emergency call, and smartphone-based air conditioning operation, door locking, and vehicle location confirmation.

Newly developed engine and CVT significantly improve fuel economy

The powertrain employs a newly developed in-line 3-cylinder 1.2L “Z12E engine” and a new, highly efficient CVT. Combined with the mild hybrid system, it achieves a WLTC mode fuel economy of 23.0km/L, which exceeds that of the previous strong hybrid model. Furthermore, by efficiently absorbing engine rotation fluctuations, quietness has also been improved.

Equipped with advanced safety technology “Dual Sensor Brake Support II”

In terms of safety equipment, Suzuki’s advanced safety technology “Suzuki Safety Support” has been further improved. It is now equipped with “Dual Sensor Brake Support II (DSBSII)” which also detects bicycles and motorcycles. In addition to improved performance of the collision damage mitigation brake, “Lane Keeping Assist Function” and “Low Speed Brake Support (Forward/Reverse)” have been newly adopted.

The higher grade models are equipped with a blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, and an electric parking brake and brake hold function. It also supports the adaptive cruise control’s stop-hold function, providing driving support on highways and other roads.

The Solio and Solio Bandit are “Support Car S Wide” vehicles, which are being promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and are “Pedal Misapplication Prevention Device (PMPD) Certified Vehicles” by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Enhanced comfort and convenience with comprehensive equipment

The new Solio also offers improved comfort and convenience. All models come standard with a color head-up display and a 4.2-inch LCD meter. By displaying a wide range of information in an easy-to-understand manner, it reduces the burden on the driver. It also features a slim circulator that eliminates temperature differences between the front and rear seats, a roof structure that reduces the sound of rain, and soundproofing and vibration-proofing technologies, all of which contribute to a comfortable interior space.

Furthermore, the interior space has been made even more spacious by extending the overall length by 80 mm. The luggage space has also been expanded, and it is now possible to load suitcases without folding down the rear seats. The rear seats can slide 165 mm and recline up to 56 degrees, ensuring comfort for passengers.

Revised grade system, all vehicles are now mild hybrids

The grade system has also been revised in this improvement. The previous gasoline-powered “Solio G” grade and the “Solio HYBRID SZ” and “Solio Bandit HYBRID SV” grades equipped with a strong hybrid system have been discontinued. A new entry-level grade “Solio HYBRID MG” that uses a mild hybrid system has been added, making all vehicles mild hybrid models.

Enhanced entry grade

The new entry-level grade, Solio HYBRID MG, comes standard with the following equipment:

  • 15-inch wheels : Add a stylish look.
  • Front and rear stabilizers (2WD vehicles) : Improves driving stability for a more comfortable ride.
  • One-action power sliding door on the left side of the rear seat : The sliding door can be opened and closed with the push of a button, making loading and unloading luggage easier. (Available as an option on vehicles without this feature)

Interior changes

  • Solio : The instrument panel ornament will be changed to brown for all grades, creating a luxurious interior.
  • Solio Bandit : The air conditioning side louvers and door garnish will be changed to titanium silver. The interior will have a sporty look.

Enhanced safety equipment

The higher-grade Solio HYBRID MZ and Solio Bandit HYBRID MV will be equipped with the following safety features:

  • Blind Spot Monitor : This function detects vehicles in adjacent lanes and displays a warning light on the door mirror, helping you to check for safety when changing lanes.
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert : This function detects and warns of vehicles approaching from the left and right when reversing, helping you ensure safety in parking lots and other areas.
  • Electric parking brake and brake hold function : This function automatically holds the brakes when waiting at traffic lights, etc., reducing the burden of driving in traffic jams, etc.
  • Adaptive cruise control stop hold function : This function stops your vehicle if the vehicle ahead stops on the highway, etc. It supports driving in traffic jams, etc.

Suzuki’s new “Solio” undergoes minor changes, adopting “electric parking brake” and “auto brake hold” for the first time

Electronic parking brake (EPB) is basically a button located around the driver’s seat that electronically controls the parking brake (side brake/foot brake).

An “electric parking brake” automatically applies the parking brake when you shift into “P” range (this varies slightly depending on the manufacturer). Furthermore, when you shift into “D” range or “R” range, the parking brake is automatically released. Vehicles that use this system do not have a parking brake (side brake/foot brake). Since the side brake is automatically applied, you can stop and start the car without worrying, reducing the burden on you.

With the Auto Hold Brake, if you press the AUTO HOLD button (this varies slightly depending on the manufacturer) while driving with the gear shifted to D, and the HOLD indicator light is on when you stop at a red light or other traffic light , the car will automatically apply the brakes and continue to do so. When the light turns green and you’re ready to move forward, simply step on the accelerator pedal, which will turn off the HOLD indicator light and release the brakes, allowing you to resume normal driving. If you have to stop multiple times in traffic jams or when there are long delays between traffic lights at large intersections, you can take your foot off the brake pedal, which significantly reduces fatigue. I personally feel that the way you tire is different when driving a car without the Auto Hold Brake.

Suzuki’s new “Solio” minor change: some spec changes, first adoption of “blind spot monitor”

The Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) function uses radar to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes. When a vehicle enters the blind spot, an LED indicator on the door mirror lights up, making lane changes much easier. Because SUVs are high, there have been many close calls when changing lanes to the left because low vehicles on the left side cannot be seen, but the LED indicator on the door mirror now lights up, making it possible to see vehicles that cannot be seen. This feature is not available on the new 4th generation Solio.

Suzuki’s new “Solio” undergoes minor changes and safety features

The new Solio is equipped with Dual Sensor Brake Support II . The collision damage mitigation brake system uses three types of sensors: millimeter-wave radar, a monocular camera, and an ultrasonic sensor. In addition to vehicles and pedestrians, it now also detects bicycles and motorcycles. It also detects vehicles and pedestrians when crossing the intersection while turning right or left, helping to avoid or mitigate various collisions.

New features include lane keeping assist, blind spot monitor, low-speed brake support (forward/reverse), and rear cross traffic alert.

About the new Suzuki “Solio” Dual Sensor Brake Support II

Forward Collision Warning Function: When driving at speeds between approximately 5km/h and 100km/h, the stereo camera detects vehicles and pedestrians ahead. If it determines there is a possibility of a collision, it will sound an alarm and display a warning message in the meter. It can also detect pedestrians at night.

Forward Collision Warning Brake Function When the possibility of a collision increases, the function not only issues a warning but also automatically applies light brakes to encourage the driver to avoid the collision.

Forward Collision Damage Mitigation Brake Assist Function After determining that there is a high possibility of a collision, if the driver applies the brakes hard, the brake assist function will be activated and increase the braking force.

Automatic braking function: When it is determined that a collision is unavoidable, the system automatically applies strong brakes to avoid the collision or reduce the damage caused by the collision.

False Start Prevention Function: Helps avoid collisions caused by pedal or shift operation errors. The stereo camera detects obstacles within approximately 4m ahead. If the driver presses the accelerator hard despite the presence of an obstacle while stopped or traveling slowly at approximately 10km/h or less, the system automatically reduces engine output to prevent sudden starts and sudden acceleration. Engine output is automatically reduced for up to approximately 5 seconds.

Lane Departure Warning Function: When the vehicle is about to deviate from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter warns the driver. When driving at speeds between approximately 60km/h and 100km/h, the stereo camera recognizes the lane markings on both sides. If it determines that the vehicle is about to depart from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter alerts the driver.

Sway warning function: If the vehicle sway, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter will sound to warn the driver. If the stereo camera determines that the vehicle is swaying based on the swaying pattern within the lane while driving at speeds between approximately 60km/h and 100km/h, a buzzer will sound and an indicator light in the meter will light up to alert the driver.

Leading vehicle departure notification function: Notifies the driver when the leading vehicle starts moving with a buzzer sound and a display in the meter. When the vehicle is stopped, if the leading vehicle starts moving and moves away from the vehicle more than 4m away, but the vehicle remains stopped, a buzzer sound will sound and a display in the meter will notify the driver that the leading vehicle has started moving.

Road Sign Assist (RSA) is a system that displays road signs recognized by the forward camera on the multi-information display.

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) uses radar to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes. If a vehicle enters your blind spot, an LED indicator mounted on the door mirror will light up.

Rearward false start prevention function: Four ultrasonic sensors built into the rear bumper activate the automatic brakes when they detect an obstacle behind the vehicle.

Reversing Brake Support: Four ultrasonic sensors built into the rear bumper activate the automatic brakes when they detect an obstacle behind the vehicle. Omnidirectional Monitor Camera Package (Omnidirectional Package: Manufacturer’s option for vehicles equipped with the Omnidirectional Monitor Camera Package): Cameras are installed in four locations on the front, rear, left and right of the vehicle. When a compatible navigation system (dealer-installed accessory) is installed, the monitor becomes an “Omnidirectional Monitor” that displays bird’s-eye views of the vehicle as if seen from directly above. Areas that are difficult to see from the driver’s seat can be checked on the screen, making it useful for parking in tight spaces.

Rear Cross Traffic Auto Brake: Detects blind spots when reversing and alerts the driver. If there is a risk of collision, the system automatically applies the brakes to help mitigate damage from a collision with an approaching vehicle.

The high beam assist stereo camera detects the brightness of oncoming vehicle headlights and automatically switches between high and low beams. This allows you to drive with high beams without having to switch between them, making nighttime driving safer even on roads with few streetlights.

Active cruise control (with full-speed following function) is newly adopted. Safety equipment includes the new “Dual Sensor Brake Support.” It is equipped with “Rear False Start Prevention Function,” “Rear Parking Sensor,” “Lane Departure Prevention Function,” “Road Sign Assist (RSA) with Traffic Sign Recognition Function,” and “Blind Spot Monitor (BSM).” “Adaptive cruise control (with full-speed following function)” with a following function at all vehicle speeds is standard equipment.

Omnidirectional Monitor Camera Package (manufacturer option for vehicles equipped with the Safety Package and Omnidirectional Monitor Camera Package) Cameras are installed in four locations on the front, rear, left and right of the vehicle. When a compatible navigation system (dealer-installed accessory) is installed, it becomes an “Omnidirectional Monitor” that displays bird’s-eye views of the vehicle on the monitor, as if seen from directly above. Areas that are difficult to see from the driver’s seat can be checked on the screen, which is useful for parking in tight spaces.

While driving, road signs recognized by the stereo camera are displayed on the multi-information display in the meter at the appropriate time. Supports “Maximum Speed,” “No Driving Along the Line,” “Auxiliary Signs,” “Stop Signs,” and “No Entry.”

“Adaptive High Beam System (AHS)” and “Driver Monitoring System (DMS)” are included. The car is classified as a “Safety Support Car” (Support Car S Wide) which is being promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and is also classified as an “AEBS (Automatic Emergency Braking System) Certified Vehicle” by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
