Nissan’s new Fairlady Z gets a partial facelift for the 2025 model, with new colors and a price revision. Announced on November 8, 2024, and released on January 9, 2025.

Nissan has made some improvements to its Fairlady Z sports car, announcing the 2025 model on November 8, 2024, and began accepting new orders for the 2025 Fairlady Z and Fairlady Z NISMO models on January 9, 2025. The improvements include improved interior and exterior quality, improved driving performance, the addition of new colors, and price revisions. New orders, which had been temporarily suspended, are scheduled to resume in late November, but please note that there is a limit on the number of orders that can be accepted.

The highlight of the 2025 model is undoubtedly the addition of special paint colors . Three new colors have been added to the lineup: Midnight Purple, 432 Orange, and Stealth Gray/Super Black two-tone. These colors were previously used on the GT-R and were extremely popular. Midnight Purple in particular is a beautiful deep purple, adding an extra touch of luxury to the Fairlady Z’s sporty design. As production of these special paint colors is scheduled to begin in fiscal year 2025, they will not be available for order acceptance when they resume in late November.

Following the 500 units produced in fiscal 2024, the 2025 production run of the Fairlady Z NISMO will also be sold by lottery from the manufacturer. Production is planned for 1,000 units in fiscal 2025, and the lottery application period will run from January 9th to January 31st, 2025. About the new Nissan Fairlady Z

The full model change of the Fairlady Z features revised exterior and interior designs. It includes a new steering wheel and a touchscreen display for the infotainment system. The instrument cluster is new and fully digital, offering more customization options than before. The powertrain is a newly developed 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine (VR30DDTT engine) that produces a maximum output of 400 hp (405 PS) and a maximum torque of 350 lb-ft (475 Nm) at 5,600 rpm. A choice of a 6-speed manual or a newly developed 9-speed automatic transmission is available. Special yellow brake calipers (with Z logo), bronze-colored aluminum wheels, genuine leather seats with yellow accents, and yellow stitching are used throughout the interior.

The design theme of the new Fairlady Z is “a fusion of tradition and the latest technology ,” with a long hood, low center of gravity, and a silhouette that pays homage to the first generation (S30) and other Z models. The body dimensions are 4,379mm long (+119mm), 1,844mm wide (-1mm), 1,316mm high (+1mm), and 2,550mm wheelbase (0mm).

The hood’s bulge and the teardrop-shaped LED headlights are reminiscent of the S30 design. The square, geometric grille opening also inherits the iconic look of previous Z models , while the inner oval fins, a unified graphic also used in the rear combination, not only impress with the Z’s unique worldview, but also express a design that combines sportiness and elegance. The two semicircular LED headlights are inspired by the 240ZG sold in the 1970s. The 240ZG uses dome-shaped headlight lenses to create circular reflections. The rear design takes inspiration from the taillights of several previous Z models, including the S30 and Z32, but modernizes them to create a more attractive and distinctive Z design. The rear combination lamps incorporate cutting-edge technology into a design reminiscent of the Z32 , featuring new 3D signature LED taillights . The carbon fiber side sills, rear bumper, and chin spoiler under the front bumper give the impression of high performance as a sports car, and there are 19-inch aluminum wheels and mufflers on both sides.

“Fairlady Z NISMO”

The Fairlady Z receives some upgrades, and the new Fairlady Z NISMO model has been added. The exterior features exclusive NISMO parts: the front grille, front and rear bumpers, fender moldings, side sill protectors, rear spoiler, and rear LED fog lamps. These parts enhance downforce and aerodynamic performance, creating a low center of gravity and a sense of long, relaxed speed. The front grille mesh features a honeycomb design, also used on the 2024 NISSAN GT-R, for reduced ventilation resistance. This, combined with the air guide slopes that scoop the wind, maximizes cooling efficiency. The newly added 19-inch forged aluminum wheels, finished in full gloss black, feature a nine-spoke radial design that combines rigidity and lightness, widening the rim while reducing weight. The body color lineup includes five colors, including the exclusive NISMO Stealth Gray/Super Black two-tone color.

The interior design was carried out in collaboration with professional racing drivers to consider the ideal meter design and interior space. Its most distinctive feature is the 12.3-inch full digital meter display . At the same time as the needle of the engine tachometer points directly upward, the shift-up indicator flashes to encourage the driver to shift up, assisting in sporty driving. The newly designed steering wheel, exclusive to the Z, has a deep cone shape that expresses its sports car nature, and with a grip shape that is easy to operate and switches that are well-organized and easy to see, the design combines the potential to maximize the performance of a sports car.

The center cluster, featuring the first-generation Fairlady Z (S30)’s triple sub-meter, air conditioning vents, and control switches stacked on top of each other, offers excellent operability, but has been redesigned with modern techniques . The triple sub-meter (boost, turbo, and voltmeter) on the instrument panel features the same voltmeter as previous Fairlady Z models, plus two meters that display the turbo’s status while driving. The newly designed manual transmission shift knob is easy to grip and operate. The steering wheel, with its deep spokes, expresses traditional beauty while also being designed for quick driver operation. The tilt-telescopic steering allows for adjustment of the steering wheel position . The seats utilize NISMO development know-how to improve hold and fit. The seat backs are made of suede. By improving the body and wheel rigidity, adding sound-absorbing and insulating materials, and blocking sound intrusion paths, road noise is reduced, improving quietness. Furthermore, the car is equipped with an eight-speaker BOSE sound system , with a sound field tailored to the interior space .

The engine has been downsized from 3.7L to a 3.0L twin-turbo, but the maximum output has been significantly increased by 69ps. The automatic transmission is a newly developed 9-speed automatic for the automatic model. The 6-speed manual has a reinforced clutch disc and gear train to accommodate the high-torque VR30DDTT engine. A newly designed synchronizer system and a changed shift profile have been adopted.

The Fairlady Z NISMO is tuned exclusively for NISMO, with the engine’s maximum output increased from 298kW (405PS) to 309kW (420PS) and maximum torque increased from 475Nm (48.4kgm) to 520Nm (53.0kgm), delivering powerful acceleration. The transmission’s shift response and durability have also been improved, enabling quicker shift changes. In addition to increasing the torsional rigidity of the steering and body, the chassis tuning and the newly-set “Traction Mode” support precise steering, allowing the driver to trace the intended line. The brakes employ a NISMO-exclusive braking system, enabling full-scale sports driving. Three drive modes are available, including the NISMO-exclusive SPORT+ mode.
