Audi Sport announced a new, more refined RS 3 model on August 20, 2024 (local time) in Germany. This upgrade has given the RS 3, the top model in the compact car world, a sportier and more attractive appearance. The new RS 3 Sportback/Sedan will be manufactured at Audi’s Ingolstadt plant and will go on sale at dealerships in Germany from October 2024. Orders will also begin to be accepted from the end of August.
New RS 3: stunning exterior design
The new RS 3 has an immediately arresting sporty appearance: the bold hexagonal Singleframe grille at the front, along with vertical side air intakes and a full-width front splitter, emphasise the car’s low centre of gravity and dynamic character.
The headlights feature an evolved daytime running light design, with a 24-element digital signature resembling a checkered flag. In addition, a new function has been added: in combination with the matrix LED headlights, three different daytime running light designs can be selected via the MMI touch display.
The rear design also exudes a powerful motorsport-inspired presence, with a large RS-specific diffuser and oval tailpipe trims, as well as new taillight graphics.
New RS 3 sophisticated interior
The interior is unified in dark tones, creating a sporty atmosphere. The newly designed steering wheel is flat at the top and bottom, providing a secure grip even during sharp cornering. The optional RS bucket seats provide excellent support and hold the driver firmly in place.
Additionally, new lighting features, effect paint and the use of carbon fiber create a perfect blend of luxury and sportiness.
New RS 3: Powerful five-cylinder engine and outstanding driving performance
At the heart of the RS 3 is the legendary 2.5 TFSI engine, which develops 294 kW (400 PS) and maximum torque of 500 Nm. This engine enables the RS 3 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in an astonishing 3.8 seconds and to a top speed of 290 km/h.
A special 1-2-4-5-3 firing order gives the engine a unique sound that is further enhanced by the twin RS exhaust system with variable flap control, stimulating the driver’s senses.
New RS 3: Improved vehicle dynamics
The new RS 3 boasts significantly improved cornering performance. The interaction of a torque splitter with fully variable torque distribution between the rear wheels, electronic stability control, brake torque vectoring and the RS sport suspension with adaptive dampers ensures an unprecedented level of vehicle dynamics.
This performance improvement was demonstrated by a new record-setting lap on the Nürburgring Nordschleife: Audi Sport racing driver Frank Stippler achieved a lap time of 7 minutes 33.123 seconds, beating the previous class record by more than five seconds.
