Lexus North America announced a partially improved version of the new RX as the 2025 model on August 21, 2024. The RX500h will be available in a “BLACK LINE SPECIAL EDITION” limited to 500 units, and as expected, many of the features have been completely redesigned! We’re also looking forward to the announcement of the Japanese model. We’ll explain in detail what kind of model it is.
About the new 2025 Lexus RX in North America
RX500h BLACK LINE SPECIAL EDITION
The RX500h BLACK LINE SPECIAL EDITION, limited to 500 units and based on the RX500h F SPORT performance grade, will return in 2025, offering a new variation of the best-selling vehicle. This package will be available exclusively on the RX 500h F SPORT performance model and features black exterior parts, orange brake calipers, and 21-inch split-five-spoke wheels with a black finish.

RX350h “F SPORT” settings
The 2025 RX also adds the F SPORT Design, a premium-grade option available exclusively on the RX350 and RX350h. The F SPORT Design shares exterior characteristics with the F SPORT Handling, including the F SPORT front fascia, grille, rear valance, and 21-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels in Gloss Black Metallic. Six exterior colors are available: Ultra White, Cloudburst Gray, Iridium, Caviar, Copper Crest, and Grecian Water. The interior features black open-pore wood trim on birch and black interior options.

GA-K platform body rigidity and strengthened suspension
The car is built on the GA-K platform, and a low centre of gravity is achieved through the use of stronger metals than the body (1180 MPa steel for the side rockers, 1470 MPa steel for the roof, 2 GPa steel for the B-pillars, etc.) and innovative adhesives and welding.
The rear of the platform features a multi-link suspension design mounted to a stiff, high-torsion rear body frame that allows for consistent suspension inputs/travel during acceleration, deceleration and steering moments.
Rear-wheel steering Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS)
The DRS (Rear-Wheel Steering) system available on the RX500h F SPORT Performance delivers superior handling. During high-speed maneuvers, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels, providing a clear, consistent turning response. At low speeds, the rear wheels seamlessly turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, providing seamless low-speed maneuverability. The DRS system allows for up to four degrees of steering angle, in-phase or out-of-phase with the front wheels, depending on speed.
All models are equipped with a 12.3-inch multi-information display.
In 2025, a 12.3-inch multi-information display (MID) (12.3-inch full LCD digital meter) will be standard equipment across the entire lineup. It will be interesting to see if it will be installed in the Japanese model as well. I have been predicting this for over a year now, and I hope it will be installed!
