Honda’s new “Pilot” full model change
Honda announced the fully redesigned 2023 Pilot in the U.S. on November 7, 2023 (local time). It will be released on December 12, 2022. Production began at the Alabama plant on December 27. The 2023 Pilot is Honda’s largest and most powerful SUV ever. It features a newly developed 3.5L V6 engine, delivering powerful performance and excellent fuel economy. It’s also packed with innovative technologies and features, including a spacious cargo area, a first-in-class second-row hideaway seat, and the world’s first new airbags.
Sophisticated design from California
Designed by Honda’s team in California, the new Pilot features squared-off styling. It’s 86mm longer than the previous model, giving it a more imposing appearance. It also features new lighting elements, a larger grille, and 18- to 20-inch wheels, depending on the trim.
A first for Honda! Four post-production options
For the first time, Honda is offering four post-production options for the 2023 Pilot, one of which was designed in collaboration with Honda Performance Development (HPD) and features bronze-colored wheels, fender flares and HPD decals.

Honda’s new “Pilot” full model change engine
The new Pilot is Honda’s most powerful SUV ever. It features an all-new 3.5L V6 DOHC direct-injection 24-valve, double overhead cam engine that produces 285 hp (212 kW/289 PS) and 262 lb-ft (355 Nm) of torque. The new Pilot is a next-generation SUV that combines overwhelming power with innovative technology.
Designed for high performance and efficiency
The new engine’s all-aluminum block is lightweight and rigid. Its low-profile head with high tumble ports and a narrow 35-degree valve angle improves combustion efficiency. Combined with a reduced part count and a 10-speed automatic transmission, the package is even more refined.
Honda’s second-generation i-VTM4 torque vectoring AWD system
Honda’s second-generation i-VTM4 torque-vectoring AWD system, available on TrailSport and Elite models, can send up to 70 percent of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels, or distribute 100 percent of the torque to either the left or right rear wheel depending on the situation.
Honda’s new “Pilot” full model change interior
The 2023 Pilot gets a new cabin that can seat up to eight people. The three-row SUV offers a three-seat second-row bench, with the center seat folding down to create an armrest or pass-through. The second row offers 60mm more legroom than the previous model, and its recline angle has increased by four degrees to 10 degrees.
An easier-to-use infotainment system
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and Honda’s own navigation system has been simplified. A multi-purpose tray is located in front of the shifter, allowing two smartphones to be charged side by side.
Touring and Elite models
Touring and Elite models come equipped with a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system with a 15.7-liter subwoofer box.
Improved safety performance
It comes standard with eight airbags, including front knee airbags, and is equipped with a new airbag unit that is a world first.
Highly Compatible Engineering Architecture
Built on the latest version of our Advanced Compatibility Engineering architecture, the Pilot features a new structure integrated into the front subframe assembly for enhanced protection in frontal oblique impacts.
