  • Platinum White Pearl Mica : This pearl white gives a clean and expansive look, beautifully accentuating the body’s contours. This is also extremely popular.

These colors express the high quality and advanced nature of the Harrier, and you will be highly satisfied no matter which one you choose.

What body colors have high resale value?

The value of a car when you sell it, or resale value, is one of the important considerations when purchasing. The Harrier is a very popular model and tends to fetch high prices in the used car market. The resale value can vary depending on the body color.

Generally, the most popular colors in the used car market are white (Platinum White Pearl Mica) and black (Precious Black Pearl/Black) . These colors are popular with everyone and are an option for many people looking for a used car, so you can expect a high resale value. These two colors are particularly popular for the Harrier, and are likely to be more favorable in terms of appraisal value.

Gray (slate gray metallic) , which has become increasingly popular in recent years , is in demand because it doesn’t show dirt easily and gives a subdued impression, and you can expect a stable resale value.

The Harrier itself is very popular, so it is unlikely that the resale value will be extremely low for other colors, but if you are looking to sell it under more favorable conditions, it would be a good idea to choose white or black.

Top 3 most popular colors for the Harrier minor change model (original survey)

Knowing which body colors are popular can be helpful when choosing a color. Based on our own research into the distribution situation on used car information sites, we predict that the top three most popular colors for the current Harrier are as follows:

Top 3 Popular Colors for the Harrier Minor Change Model (Predicted)

  1. Precious Black Pearl : This color exudes a sense of luxury and dignity, and is said to best bring out the stylishness of the Harrier. While a classic color, it has an outstanding presence.
  2. Platinum White Pearl Mica : It has a clean look and also has the effect of making the body appear larger. Its high resale value is also a reason for its popularity. It is supported by a wide range of people.
  3. Slate Gray Metallic : A gray that gives an urban, modern impression. It is chosen by users who prefer a calm atmosphere because it does not show dirt easily.

As expected, the classic black and white are overwhelmingly popular, followed by the trendy color gray.

Three things to keep in mind when choosing the body color of your Harrier

Body color is an important factor that determines the impression of a car, and once you have decided on it, it cannot be easily changed. To avoid regrets, check the following three points.

  1. Body colors that are easy to regret
    • Precious Black Pearl / Black : This finish has an exceptionally luxurious feel, but scratches from car washes, water stains, and dust are very visible. Diligent maintenance is essential to maintain its pristine condition. It also tends to absorb sunlight in the summer, raising the interior temperature.
    • Platinum White Pearl Mica : Although not as noticeable as black colors, it does show mud, water stains, and other dark dirt. This color also requires regular washing.
    • Sensual Red Mica : While the vibrant color is appealing, it may be at higher risk of fading due to UV rays than other colors. Also, because it is a unique color, some people may tire of it or find it divisive.
  2. Body color that hides dirt
    • Slate Gray Metallic : This neutral color is said to be the least likely to show dust, dirt, and water stains. It’s recommended for those who want to wash their car less frequently.
    • Steel Blonde Metallic : This is also a neutral color that is close to gray, and dirt is relatively less noticeable.
    • Platinum White Pearl Mica : This may be surprising, but whitish dirt like yellow sand and light dust is less noticeable than black. However, as mentioned above, dark dirt is still noticeable, so overall it is less noticeable than gray.
  3. Timeless body color
    • Platinum White Pearl Mica : A clean, timeless classic color that many people will find they never tire of, even after driving for a long time.
    • Precious Black Pearl / Black : This color has a dignified and luxurious feel, making it a classic color that will last a long time. It also matches well with formal occasions.
    • Slate Gray Metallic : A calm and unpretentious color that you can enjoy for a long time.

Ultimately, personal preference is paramount, but taking these points into consideration will help you make a more satisfying choice.

What is the self-restoring coat used in Precious Black Pearl?

The instruction manual for the vehicle model in which it is used explains the “Self-Restoring Coat” as follows:

The effect lasts for 5 to 8 years from the time of purchase.

The time it takes for scratches to heal varies depending on the depth of the scratch and the ambient temperature.

Note that warming the paint with hot water may shorten the time it takes to heal.

Deep scratches caused by keys, coins, etc. cannot be restored.

Do not use waxes that contain compounds (polishing powders).

In other words, it is an excellent product that will automatically repair scratches and scuffs around the steering wheel without the need for special maintenance such as daily car washes, and will help maintain the color and luster of your new car for a long period of time.

Precious Black Pearl Self-Restoring Coat: My impressions

The author selected and purchased the fourth-generation Harrier in the body color “Precious Black Pearl” (an optional color costing 55,000 yen). This “Precious Black Pearl” is the only body color for the Harrier that uses the “Self-Restoring Coat.”

Harrier

Then, almost a year after I bought the car, an incident occurred. I was shopping at a shopping mall and was carrying heavy bags to the parking lot in a shopping cart when I accidentally hit the body of the car .

Looking closely , it’s just a scratch, but it looks like it could have been caused by a key or a coin… I left it for about a week hoping it would heal itself. Naturally, nothing changed .

So I decided to try pouring hot water (about 50 degrees) on the car when I washed it . The reason is that, as the instruction manual says, pouring hot water on the paint will warm it up and shorten the restoration time.

Here are the results…

The damage is so severe that it cannot be seen in the photo. It doesn’t show up at all in the photo, but if you look closely you can see that it is damaged.

Just because you choose the “Self-Restoring Coat” doesn’t mean it won’t get scratched, so you need to be careful, but it certainly feels less prone to scratches than regular paint. We hope to continue offering this “Self-Restoring Coat” in many different car models and colors.
