BMW announced on January 31, 2024 (local time) that it will finally introduce a 6MT manual gearbox in the 2025 model Z4 M40i grade. It will be available worldwide from March 2024.
About the new BMW “Z4” 2025 model 6MT
The 2025 Z4 M40i is powered by a 3.0L turbocharged inline-six engine with 382 hp (387 PS/285 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque, giving it a top speed of 249 km/h. The manual gearbox offers slower acceleration than the eight-speed automatic. However, the six-speed manual transmission accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in 4.2 seconds, while the eight-speed automatic transmission takes 3.9 seconds, so many customers likely won’t be disappointed.

BMW says its engineering team has ensured the six-speed manual transmission is perfectly suited to the Z4, with M-specific parts used in its construction, meaning it’s not a clone of the Toyota Supra’s manual box.
