BMW announced the new 5 Series Touring, a station wagon model of the new 5 Series, on February 7, 2024. It will also add the i5 Touring, an EV (electric vehicle) model. At the same time, sales of the Japanese model began. Delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024 or later. BMW has completely redesigned its mid-class sedan, the 5 Series, and released the Japanese model on July 13, 2023.

While the exterior follows BMW’s traditional design, the kidney grille has been expanded vertically, renewing the concept and adopting a new design language. The body measures 5,060mm in length, 1,900mm in width, 1,515mm in height, and a 2,995mm wheelbase. The side design, with its high shoulder line, powerfully designed door panels and fenders that give the impression of being carved from solid metal, and two precisely traced character lines, exudes a premium presence. The rear design features a more three-dimensional rear glass, enhancing the stylish look that continues from the D-pillar. The rear combination lights, designed specifically for the Touring model, are positioned low.

About the interior of the new BMW “5 Series Touring” and “i5 Touring”
The interior features significantly fewer buttons than the previous model, creating a streamlined and refined impression. The BMW Curved Display comprises the latest 12.3-inch information display and 14.9-inch control display. The BMW Interaction Bar, a three-dimensional crystal surface that runs from the center of the instrument panel through the door trim, is standard equipment, creating an artistic interior space according to the driver’s preferred driving mode. The steering wheel has also been redesigned, and the control panel and center console selector lever now provide feedback when operated. The control system, featuring the evolved BMW Curved Display and “QuickSelect” function, is based on BMW Operating System 8.5 and features a redesigned home screen on the driver’s side with function icons arranged vertically. The “QuickSelect” function allows direct access to functions without switching to submenus, resulting in a significantly improved menu structure and easier operation. The new BMW iDrive, combined with the BMW Curved Display and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, is designed to be operated consistently via touch display and language, and incorporates the AirConsole platform first seen in the 5 Series, enabling the use of innovative in-car games.

“Parking Assist Professional” is standard equipment, enabling fully automated parking.
