A word from the editorial team about Toyota’s new Urban Cruiser in India

I personally find the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Tizer to be a truly attractive model. Its design and price are particularly appealing. If it were to appear in the Japanese market alongside Suzuki’s FRONX, I’d imagine it could create a new market. Recently, overseas-produced models have been imported into Japan. For example, Honda’s WR-V, originally an overseas model, has now been introduced in Japan. This may signal a trend toward more overseas models being introduced into Japan in the future.

About the new Suzuki “FRONX”

  • Adopts Suzuki’s latest exterior design
  • Equipped with the latest safety equipment
  • The interior is equipped with the latest infotainment system.

The Suzuki FRONX is built on Suzuki’s latest Heartect platform, with a length of 3,995mm, width of 1,765mm, height of 1,550mm, and wheelbase of 2,520mm. It is 5mm longer, 20mm wider, and 50mm higher than the Suzuki Baleno, which has the same wheelbase. The FRONX’s footprint is roughly the same as that of the Suzuki Brezza.

About the exterior of the new Suzuki “FRONX”

The car is targeted at “young pioneers who want to stand out,” according to Frontus. The front end resembles the Grand Vitara with split headlights, a chrome insert in the grille, and an aluminum-style skid plate. With 17-inch aluminum wheels, pronounced fenders and rear shoulders, the profile is sportier. At the rear, the sloping rear glass, covered by a roof spoiler, is Suzuki’s first attempt at the coupe-SUV trend. The model also features full-width LED taillights and a sizeable aluminum-style skid plate that doubles as a diffuser.

Suzuki new “FRONX” and “Escudo” body size comparison

The overall length of the Escudo is longer, but the wheelbase is 20mm longer than the Frontiers, so the interior space may not change.

Specifications Escudo Fronx
full length 4,175mm 3,995mm
Overall width 1,775mm 1,765mm
Overall height 1,610mm 1,550mm
Wheelbase 2,500mm 2,520mm

Suzuki’s new “FRONX” interior

The dual-tone dashboard is similar to that of the Suzuki Baleno, but with a forged metal-like matte finish and high-gloss silver inserts for a slightly more premium feel. There’s a 9-inch touchscreen for infotainment that’s compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, a wireless charging pad, an Arkamys audio system, rear-seat air conditioning vents, six airbags and a suite of connected car features.

Suzuki’s new “FRONX” specifications

The Suzuki Front is available with two petrol options: a 1.0LK series BoosterJet turbocharged engine with mild hybrid technology producing 99 hp (74 kW/100 PS) and 148 Nm of torque, mated to either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox; and a 1.0LK series BoosterJet turbocharged engine with 89 hp (66 kW/90 PS) and 113 Nm of torque, mated to the front wheels via either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AGS automatic.
