Suzuki new “Carry” series partial specification changes

This partial specification change adds a brake control function to the false rearward start prevention function. Suzuki Safety Support is now standard equipment on all Carry and Super Carry models . Five-speed manual transmission vehicles are now equipped with an idling stop system when the vehicle is stopped, improving fuel efficiency, and LED headlights are now standard equipment on the Carry KX and Super Carry X. Furthermore, all models now come standard with radio-controlled keyless entry, power door locks, power windows, and electrically retractable remote control door mirrors.

A new body color, “Denim Blue Metallic,” has been added. The “Carry Special Purpose Vehicle” now includes a differential lock mechanism on the 4WD 5MT models of the heavy-duty dump, shallow dump, cleaning dump, and lift dump.

The Carry and Super Carry are “Support Car S Wide” vehicles, which are being promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and are certified by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism as vehicles with an Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS2) and a system for preventing sudden acceleration due to pedal misapplication (PMPD).

About the new Super Carry

Suzuki announced and released the new Super Carry, a derivative model of the Carry light truck, on May 16, 2018. The biggest difference from the Carry is the added seatback space. (Height 920mm x Width 1,235mm x Length 250mm) The driver’s seat slides 180mm, the most of any light truck. The seat reclines up to 40 degrees, ensuring a comfortable driving position even for larger drivers, allowing them to stretch out and relax. Compared to the Carry, the cabin has been extended 460mm rearward to achieve a spacious interior. A front-folding passenger seat mechanism is a first in its class. With a total height of 1,885mm (120mm higher than the Carry), all vehicles feature a high roof, ensuring ample headroom. An overhead shelf, convenient for storing files, is standard equipment.

Furthermore, it is equipped with advanced safety technology and comes standard with four-wheel ABS. The new lightweight impact-absorbing body “Tect” uses high-tensile steel plates over a wide area of the body, achieving weight reduction while increasing strength.

About the new lightweight shock-absorbing body “Tect”

The new lightweight impact-absorbing body “Tect” combines light weight with high safety. By using high-strength, lightweight materials for the body, it combines high safety with light weight. The light weight reduces the burden on the engine and contributes to fuel-efficient driving.

Regarding some specification changes to the new Carry

Suzuki has made some changes to the new Carry and Super Carry models and released them on September 17, 2019. These changes include the adoption of Dual Camera Brake Support, a collision damage mitigation braking system. This makes it the first light truck to be able to detect pedestrians at night. It is classified as a “Safety Support Car S Wide” model, a category promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. It is now standard equipment on the KX, Super Carry, special edition KC Special, and Nouhan Special, and more vehicles are available as manufacturer options. A new body color, Cool Khaki Pearl Metallic, has been added.

New Carry Dual Sensor Brake Support

Collision Damage Mitigation Braking:  While driving at speeds between approximately 5km/h and 50km/h, two cameras detect vehicles and pedestrians (day and night) ahead, and if it determines there is a risk of collision, it warns the driver with a buzzer and a display in the meter. If the possibility of collision increases while driving at speeds below approximately 100km/h, it automatically applies light brakes. When the brake pedal is pressed, it assists with braking force. If the possibility of collision increases further, it automatically applies heavy brakes to avoid a collision or reduce damage in the event of a collision.

False Start Prevention Function: Helps avoid collisions caused by pedal or shift operation errors. The stereo camera detects obstacles within approximately 4m ahead. If the driver steps on the accelerator pedal heavily despite the presence of an obstacle while stopped or traveling slowly at approximately 10km/h or less, the function automatically reduces engine output to prevent sudden starts and sudden acceleration.

Lane Departure Warning Function: When the vehicle is about to deviate from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter warns the driver. When driving at speeds between approximately 60km/h and 100km/h, the stereo camera recognizes the lane markings on both sides. If it determines that the vehicle is about to depart from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter alerts the driver.

Sway warning function: If the vehicle sway, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter will sound to warn the driver. If the stereo camera determines that the vehicle is swaying based on the swaying pattern within the lane while driving at speeds between approximately 60km/h and 100km/h, a buzzer will sound and an indicator light in the meter will light up to alert the driver.

Leading vehicle departure notification function: Notifies the driver when the leading vehicle starts moving with a buzzer sound and a display in the meter. When the vehicle is stopped, if the leading vehicle starts moving and moves away from the vehicle more than 4m away, but the vehicle remains stopped, a buzzer sound will sound and a display in the meter will notify the driver that the leading vehicle has started moving.

High Beam Assist: When driving with the headlights set to high beam, if there is an oncoming vehicle or a vehicle ahead or if you are driving in a bright area, the headlights will automatically switch to low beam, and if there is no oncoming vehicle or a vehicle ahead or if the surroundings become dark, the headlights will automatically switch back to high beam.
