About the new Porsche “718 Boxster EV”

The 983-coded open sports cars, the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman, will phase out their internal combustion engine drivetrains over the next 10 years and become fully electric. This will be done in parallel with the current internal combustion Cayman and Boxster models, and they will be sold side by side for the next few years. They will be built on the Premium Platform Electric ( PPE) platform. The base model will be equipped with a single motor driving the rear wheels, but the more powerful dual-motor version will make the Boxster and Cayman all-wheel drive for the first time and produce at least 400 horsepower. The use of a composite material made of aluminum and high-strength steel will reduce weight, achieving both high driving performance and environmental friendliness. The price of the new 718 Boxster EV will increase due to the use of an electric powertrain and lightweight body materials.

About the exterior of the new Porsche “718 Boxster EV”

It has been revealed that the headlights of the 718 Boxster EV will adopt the same design as those of the Taycan and Macan . The front will feature Porsche’s latest quad-LED daytime running lights, which may be equipped with the company’s new Matrix LED lamp units. This technology, announced at the end of last year, can illuminate the road surface up to 600 meters ahead, improving visibility and safety when driving at night. In addition, the rear will feature slim horizontal LED units that stretch across the entire rear end. These changes are expected to give the 718 Boxster EV a significantly different appearance from the conventional Boxster.

About the interior of the new Porsche “718 Boxster EV”

Like recent Porsche cars, the car is heavily digitalized, and prototypes currently under development feature a fully digital instrument cluster and infotainment system with dual screens and capacitive touch controls, similar to those found in the Taycan and Macan .

The dashboard combines touchscreens and physical switches, with aircraft-style toggle switches, air conditioning vents, and a USB port located below the central display, while controls for the climate control and heated seats have been moved to the center console, where they combine touch sensors with physical knobs.
