Peugeot announced on March 20, 2024, a full model change of the new 5008, introducing a new electric vehicle model, the E-5008. Sales will begin in Europe in September 2024. The company has promised to offer electric options for all models by 2025, and then transition to an EV-only brand in Europe by 2030.

The car is available in two models : the internal combustion engine (ICE) “5008” and the electric vehicle (BEV) “E-5000 . “

The exterior adopts the latest design , making it more sophisticated than its predecessor.

It features a 21-inch curved panoramic screen called the ” Panorama i-Cockpit .”

The E-5008 not only offers seven seats but also comes as standard, differentiating it from the E-3008 . It debuts on the new Stellantis STLA medium platform and features an electric vehicle (EV) option. Rather than waiting for a non-hybrid “e” version like the E-3008 , Peugeot opted to offer both the E-5008 and the internal combustion engine (ICE) 5008. Despite its three-row seating arrangement, the car offers 259 liters of luggage space. However, this volume is less than that of a four-door Mini Cooper. However, with the third row seats lowered, the volume increases to 748 liters, far more than the E-3008’s 520 liters.

The exterior of the Peugeot E-5008 adopts an evolved styling language, measuring 4,790mm long, 1,890mm wide, 1,690mm high, and with a 2,900mm wheelbase. It features slimmer headlights and three LED fangs flanking the nearly obscured grille that fades into the front bumper. Other features include futuristic aluminum wheels, gloss black cladding on the lower body, and a steeply raked rear glass. The roof and pillars are finished in black, and chrome accents emphasize the aerodynamic roofline, which flows into an aggressive tail—a core styling feature of the new generation.

The interior features the brand’s latest design, the “Panoramic i-Cockpit,” featuring a new free-standing 21-inch curved panoramic screen that combines the digital instrument cluster, head-up display, and touchscreen into a single unit . The screen is supported by rear legs, and its base is fitted with LEDs that create a “floating” effect. The right side of the curved display is touch-sensitive, allowing access to infotainment, settings, and climate control. Additionally, an additional touchscreen in the center console incorporates “i-Toggles” shortcuts with 10 customizable spots that replace the old aircraft-style switches.

Peugeot has retained its distinctive small-diameter steering wheel with two spokes and flat edges, but the new unit now features a series of glossy touch-sensitive controls with a “tactile click” function to avoid accidental operation. These are combined with two new “slim and elegant” controls mounted behind the steering wheel.

E-5008 Powertrain

The E-5008 Electric 210 is a single-motor model with a maximum output of 211hp (214PS), a 73 kWh battery, a 2WD (FF) drivetrain and a range of 500km.

The E-5008 Electric 230 Long Range has slightly increased power (228hp / 231PS), is fitted with two-wheel drive and a larger 98 kWh battery for a range of 660km.

The E-5008 Electric 320 adds a 107hp (109 PS) motor for a total maximum output of 316hp (320 PS). It’s a 4WD model, but unfortunately, due to the extra weight, it’s equipped with a 98kWh battery, but it has the same range of 500km as the entry-level model.

All three cars feature a 400V electrical system and an impressive 160kW DC charging speed, meaning you can add 100km of range in 10 minutes and charge the battery from 20 to 80 percent in 30 minutes. For most owners who want to charge at home, an 11kW on-board charger is fitted as standard, with the option to upgrade to 22kW for even faster charging.

The 5008 Hybrid 136 e-DCS6 is powered by a 1.2L inline 3-cylinder gasoline turbocharged engine with a 48V mild hybrid system, producing a maximum output of 134hp (136PS). The electric motor is hidden inside a forced 6-speed dual-clutch transmission that drives the front wheels, and is said to reduce fuel consumption by 15% compared to a comparable non-hybrid 5008.

The 5008 Plug-in Hybrid 195 e-DCS7 PHEV will be launched in 2025. It will be equipped with a 1.6L inline four-cylinder turbo engine and electric motor, combining a maximum output of 123hp (125PS) electric motor with a 148hp (150PS) internal combustion engine for a total system output of 300ps and an EV range of 79km in zero-emission mode.
