MG unveils new MG3 hybrid compact hatchback at Geneva Motor Show 2024

MG, a British automaker under the umbrella of China’s SAIC Group, announced the new compact car “MG3” on February 26, 2024. It will be unveiled to the world at the Geneva Motor Show 2024, which will be held from February 26 to March 3, 2024 .

MG has unveiled the new-generation MG3, its entry-level subcompact hatchback, featuring significant improvements inside and out, as well as a new self-charging hybrid powertrain producing 192 horsepower (143 kW / 194 PS).

About the exterior of the new MG “MG3”

The exterior of the new MG3 has already been teased in previous teaser images. Designed in Shanghai, the hatchback features a more aggressive front fascia and sculpted bodywork, inheriting the design lines of the large MG5 and MG7 sedans. Its body dimensions are 4,113mm long, 1,797mm wide, and 1,502mm high. Compared to the previous model, it is slightly longer, wider, and lower. This results in a more spacious interior, with a luggage capacity of 293 liters, larger than that of the rival Toyota Yaris Hybrid.

About the interior of the new MG “MG3”

The interior of the new MG3 features a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, navigation, and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen (navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay are standard). There are also numerous toggle-style switches on the center console, four USB ports, and other buttons on the steering wheel.

Safety equipment includes the MG Pilot ADAS suite, which includes systems such as adaptive cruise control.

About the new MG “MG3” powertrain

The car is powered by a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine with a maximum output of 101 hp (75 kW/102 PS) and a single electric motor with a maximum output of 134 hp (100 kW/136 PS), a 1.83 kWh battery, and a three-speed automatic transmission. Drivers can choose from three driving modes: Eco, Standard, and Sport. In Sport mode, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8 seconds.
