Mazda CX-80
The Driver Personalization System uses a driver monitoring camera to detect the driver’s eyes and estimate their height and build. Based on this information, it automatically adjusts the seat, steering wheel, head-up display, door mirrors, and more. It also uses facial recognition to identify the driver’s face and saves settings for the driving position, audio, air conditioning, and more in the vehicle. This allows the driver to quickly restore their personalized settings every time they get in the car.
It is a rare three-row seat SUV in Japan.

MAZDA CX-80
The CX-80 features three rows of seats, making it ideal for traveling with large families or groups. All seats are made of high-quality materials, so you can expect a satisfying riding experience no matter where you sit. However, the CX-90 is available overseas, and the smaller CX-80 may have a slightly cramped third row, so you may need to be a little careful. If you don’t want to drive a minivan but still want to carry lots of family and friends, the CX-80 is recommended.

6-seater captain seats with center console
The CX-80 offers two flat-folding third-row seats and three different configurations for the second row, including captain’s chairs with a choice of center console or access pass-through, and two separate, high-comfort seats with seat ventilation.

6-seater captain seats without center console
You can also choose a six-seater with no center console and an aisle to the third row.

A three-seat bench seat is used in the second row
The seven-seater version features a three-seat bench seat in the second row. The second-row seats can be easily folded down with the push of a button. The luggage capacity is 258L with the third row in use, providing a reasonable amount of cargo space . With the third-row seats fully folded, the luggage capacity increases to 687L. With the second and third-row seats fully folded, the luggage capacity increases to 1971L. With such an enormous capacity, it’s hard to believe it’s an SUV!

The new CX-80 offers a six-seater option with no center console, ensuring an aisle to the third-row seat. The second row features a three-seat bench seat, while the seven-seater version will also feature a three-seat bench seat in the second row. About the new Mazda CX-80 powertrain
The CX-80 PHEV is powered by a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine mated to a plug-in hybrid system called the e-SKYACTIV PHEV. It is paired with a proprietary 8-speed automatic transmission that does not use a torque converter , achieving both excellent environmental friendliness and driving performance. This power unit, which combines high output with environmental friendliness, is combined with a longitudinally mounted platform. The CX-80 is available with two engines: the e-Skyactiv PHEV plug-in hybrid powertrain and the e-Skyactiv D diesel engine. Both offer excellent performance and driving stability. The towing capacity of 2,500 kg means it’s strong enough to tow a boat or caravan, making it safe for outdoor and leisure activities.
Will there be a three-row SUV model similar to the new Mazda CX-80?
There are very few large three-row SUV models, including the Nissan X-Trail , Toyota Land Cruiser 250 , Toyota Land Cruiser 300 , Lexus LX600 , Mercedes-Benz EQS , Jeep Grand Cherokee L , and Peugeot 5008. Mazda’s CX-80 offers a wide range of options and versatility in the second row, including a bench seat, center console, and captain seats, making it highly user-friendly, and its reasonable price makes it a recommended choice.

Land Cruiser 250
Furthermore, most of the vehicles with three rows of seats are strongly outdoor-oriented, and Mazda’s design is more like an urban SUV, so the purchasing demographic will likely be different.

Mazda’s new “CX-80” price and grade
The price and grade structure of the CX-80 have not yet been announced, but since it was developed based on the CX-60, it is expected to be priced higher than the CX-60. Considering that the CX-60 has a price range of 3,217,500 to 6,264,500 yen with the same powertrain, the CX-80 is expected to be priced around 3.9 million to 7 million yen.
A word from the editorial department
The new CX-80 is the second in the large-size product line in Japan, following the CX-60. The new Mazda CX-80 is highly anticipated as a flagship model leading Mazda’s SUV lineup. It features a three-row, seven-passenger configuration, which is popular in the Japanese market, and its limited availability has garnered significant market attention. Furthermore, it offers more luxurious and advanced features than the existing CX-8, making it likely to attract CX-8 owners and those looking for a seven-passenger vehicle from another manufacturer. However, its higher price compared to the CX-8 may be perceived as too expensive by previous CX-8 buyers. Furthermore, the larger body size, particularly its 1,890mm width, is quite large for a Japanese car, and many may be concerned about this. If you’re looking for the latest model, why not consider the CX-80?
