Mazda will make product improvements (annual improvements) to its crossover SUV “CX-5” and will announce it in Japan in October 2024, with sales starting in mid-November.
Mazda CX-5 2024 model update
The model upgrade includes the replacement of the direct-injection gasoline engine “SKYACTIV-G 2.0” with the “e-SKYACTIV G 2.0.” The e-SKYACTIV G 2.0, combined with the unique mild hybrid system “M Hybrid,” delivers a maximum output of 115kW (156PS) at 6,000rpm and a maximum torque of 199Nm (20.3kgfm) at 4,000rpm, while the M Hybrid delivers a maximum output of 5.1kW (6.9PS) at 1,800rpm and a maximum torque of 49Nm (5.0kgfm) at 100rpm. This not only improves environmental friendliness through the use of deceleration energy regeneration, but also provides quieter, more refined acceleration when starting and taking off, aided by the motor’s engine assistance. Electrification technology further enhances environmental friendliness and driving pleasure. Compared to the current model, WLTC mode fuel economy has improved by approximately 0.6km/L.

Mazda CX-5 2022 model update
Mazda will make product improvements (annual improvements) to the CX-5, which will be announced in Japan on October 14, 2022, with sales starting in mid-November. This product improvement to the CX-5 will change the USB port from Type A to Type C. Mazda will also adopt its own special paint color, Rhodium White Premium Metallic . The Rhodium White Premium Metallic color, which has been announced to be adopted on the new SUV CX-60 , will also be used on the CX-5.

Rhodium White Premium Metallic
Based on the KODO design themes of “Japanese beauty” and “the aesthetic of subtraction,” this color features a pure, untainted whiteness combined with a metallic texture that accentuates the fine grain of the surface, accentuating the shading. This is the third color, following Soul Red Crystal Metallic and Machine Gray Premium Metallic. By evolving the Takumi-nuri coating technique, we have succeeded in mass-producing a color with excellent expressiveness using only three layers: a clear layer, a reflective layer, and a color layer (coloring layer). The color layer (coloring layer) uses a newly developed white pigment to achieve a silky, fine-grained whiteness. Previously, white colors tended to show through the base coat, resulting in a thicker coating than other colors. However, the adoption of this newly developed pigment reduces the coating thickness by approximately 30% compared to previous models, contributing to resource conservation and reduced CO2 emissions during the production process.
