Mazda has announced that it will make its world debut in Canada at 11:00 AM (local time) on January 30, 2024, with the new CX-70 large two-row SUV. It has already been posted on Mazda’s official Canadian website along with a teaser image. It was originally scheduled to be released as a 2024 model, at the same time as the three-row CX-90, which was released in 2023, but was postponed until 2024. Finally, a new model will be added to the new-generation lineup. It is not currently scheduled for release in Japan.
About the Mazda CX-70
The large product group, the CX-60, CX-70, CX-80, and CX-90, are positioned in a wide price range above the existing Mazda CX-5 and the CX-50, and are available in two different body types and two seating rows: two-row and three-row. The two-row CX-60 and three-row CX-80 will be available in Europe and Japan, where roads and parking lots are relatively narrow, while the wide-body two-row CX-70 and three-row CX-90 will be available in markets such as North America, where larger size and presence are required , expanding Mazda’s mid-size crossover SUV lineup.
Mazda hasn’t said much about the next model, but it has previously confirmed that it will use a new longitudinal architecture and feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain and an inline-six engine. The company also announced that it will have two rows of seats, unlike the three-row CX-90. It will focus its electrification efforts on a “large platform,” such as the first-ever 2024 CX-90 PHEV and the upcoming CX-70 PHEV.
Mazda USA announced on its official social media accounts that the launch of the CX-70 has officially been postponed to spring 2024. The reason given was due to the initial surge in interest in the CX-90.
