6. Suzuki Spacia
Suzuki will release the new light height wagon “Spacia” and “Spacia Custom” on November 22, 2023. The exterior will keep the same concept, but the design will be changed to give it a completely new image.

The standard model “Spacia” keeps the concept almost the same as the previous model, but the front design has been slightly changed. The “Spacia Custom” has a silver painted front design, giving it a more high-quality and glamorous look, and although it is a different company, it has a bold design reminiscent of Toyota’s “Vellfire”. Furthermore, the headlights are equipped with ” DRL (Daytime Running Lights) ” and ” LED Sequential Turn Lamps (flowing turn signals) “.

The Spacia’s digital speedometer and multi-information display (color) and steering wheel heater are adopted for the first time in a Suzuki minicar.

The platform uses “HEARTECT” and employs a ring-shaped framework and structural adhesives to improve body rigidity and handling stability, as well as damping adhesives on the underbody joints and sound-insulating baffles in eight locations on both sides to achieve high interior quietness. The rear step ground clearance (345mm), sliding door opening width (600mm), and opening height (1250mm) make it easy to get in and out of the car, and the handles on the grips have been enlarged to improve ease of getting in and out of the rear seats.
Driving methods to improve fuel efficiency of light vehicles
- Avoid sudden starts, sudden acceleration, and sudden braking
- Reduce air conditioning use
- Don’t carry unnecessary baggage
- Maintain proper tire pressure
The appeal of minicars
The vehicle price is low. (Depending on the model, the vehicle price is less than 1 million yen.)
High resale value. (Light cars are in high demand and tend to have high resale values.)
Low maintenance costs. (Many fuel-efficient models and the lowest automobile tax)
Easy to drive. (Light vehicle standards are 3.4m or less in length, 1.48m or less in width, 2m or less in height, 660cc or less in engine displacement, and a seating capacity of four or less. Therefore, they are smaller and more maneuverable than standard cars, making them easier to drive on narrow roads and for those unfamiliar with driving.)
