About Hyundai Performance EV “Ioniq 5 N”

The IONIQ 5 N was developed based on Hyundai’s Electric Global Module Platform. Hyundai leveraged the expertise gained through the development of the RM20e, RN22e, and N Vision 74 Rolling Lab. Its body dimensions are 4715mm long, 1940mm wide, 1625mm high, and 3000mm wheelbase. Compared to the standard IONIQ 5, it is 20mm lower, 50mm wider, and 80mm longer. The front features a new splitter, air flaps, and air curtains, while the rear features a unique spoiler, a prominent diffuser, triangular brake lights, and a rear window wiper that differs from the standard IONIQ 5. A set of 21-inch forged aluminum wheels comes standard, shod with 275/35 Pirelli P Zero tires.

About the exterior of the new Hyundai IONIQ 5 N

The IONIQ 5 N’s body-in-white structure has 42 additional weld points and 2.1 meters of additional adhesive to improve rigidity. Hyundai also strengthened the steering column and developed a system called the N-Pedal. This software feature uses technology similar to the i-Pedal regenerative braking system to improve turn-in and increase throttle sensitivity.

Additionally, the innovative N Torque Distribution System provides fully variable front-to-rear torque distribution with 11 levels of adjustment. There’s also an N Drift Optimizer that integrates a Torque Kick Drift function, allowing drivers to simulate the clutch kick action of a rear-wheel drive internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle.

The braking system is also very powerful, with the IONIQ 5 N equipped with 400 mm (15.7 in) front discs and 360 mm (14.1 in) rear discs with four-piston calipers.

Hyundai’s new “IONIQ 5 N” interior

The interior of the IONIQ 5 N has undergone significant changes compared to the standard IONIQ 5. Firstly, it is fitted with an all-new steering wheel, which now features an N-Green Boost button and various N-Buttons, as well as new metal paddle shifters for the regenerative braking system.

The center console now features knee pads and shin support for track use, N bucket seats are standard, and the car also comes with optimised pedals.

The dashboard has a sleek, modular design and features an extra-wide integrated display with a 12.25-inch touch infotainment screen and a 12.25-inch digital cluster for a high-tech look.

Hyundai’s new “IONIQ 5 N” powertrain

The IONIQ 5 N is fitted with a larger 84 kWh battery pack and upgraded front and rear electric motors, the front motor producing 166 kW (222 hp) and the rear motor producing 282 kW (378 hp), for a combined maximum power output of 448 kW (609 PS) and maximum torque of 740 Nm.

In boost mode, power is increased even further, with a maximum output of 478 kW (650 PS) and maximum torque of 770 Nm. This power output enables the IONIQ 5 N to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 260 km/h.
