Until hybrids pay for themselves
This became a very difficult question when considering fuel economy and price. When comparing both grades of the “e:HEV AIR EX” 2WD 6-seater, the gasoline model is 2,697,200 yen and the hybrid model is 3,047,000 yen, a difference of 349,800 yen . Furthermore, the hybrid model is eligible for an eco-car tax reduction of approximately 22,500 yen. The total difference over the gasoline model is approximately 327,300 yen .
Here we will calculate the cost of gasoline, and examine how much you need to drive to make up for the gasoline cost of approximately 327,300 yen . Based on the actual fuel consumption figures listed above,
Fuel economy for gasoline vehicles (2WD) is 13.0km/L. Fuel economy for hybrid vehicles (2WD) is 19.0km/L.
If gasoline price is 170 yen per liter
- Gasoline model 10,000km = 130,769 yen
- Hybrid car 10,000km = 89,474 yen
After 10,000km, the difference is 41,295 yen, so after 50,000km, the difference is 206,475 yen. In other words, this still makes up for the difference of 349,800 yen (about 327,300 yen) in the price of the main unit to some extent .
Considering that people are likely to sell their new car after about five years or drive 100,000km, choosing a hybrid would mean an additional 412,950 yen. Just because it’s a hybrid doesn’t mean you have to be too smug about it. Furthermore, in the case of the Freed, the exterior design is no different from that of a hybrid, so it’s not something to be proud of. Considering that the base price will be paid off by driving 50,000km, and that hybrids are more likely to retain value when sold for resale (used), we recommend a hybrid. Furthermore, hybrids are undoubtedly advantageous in terms of stable driving when carrying 6-7 passengers, so we recommend them!
Is the Freed a gasoline or hybrid car? Which is recommended?
- We recommend hybrid cars!
The reason is the price difference.
The price of the Freed gasoline vehicle ranges from 2,508,000 yen to 3,087,700 yen.
The price of the Freed hybrid vehicle ranges from 2,857,800 yen to 3,437,500 yen.
The price difference between a gasoline car and a hybrid car is only 349,800 yen, which is quite small. Furthermore, the difference between a hybrid car and a gasoline car is somewhat smaller when you consider eco-car tax breaks. The motor torque assist makes it comfortable for everyday use, and it also has good fuel economy. Considering resale value, we recommend a hybrid car!
