TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team (TGR-WRT) announced on January 4, 2024, that the GR Yaris Rally2 has received FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) homologation, effective January 1, 2024. The GR Yaris Rally2 was developed for customer rallies and is scheduled to be entered into official competitions starting with the famous Rallye Monte-Carlo later this month. This homologation will allow the GR Yaris Rally2 to officially compete in the Rally2 class of the WRC (World Rally Championship).
About Toyota’s GR Yaris Rally 2
Chairman Akio Toyoda (nicknamed “Morizo”) hopes that this new vehicle will be the first step in building a bridge between motorsport vehicles and commercial vehicles through rally competitions, and that it will contribute to strengthening the global rally market.
With the acquisition of the homologation certificate, sales of the GR Yaris Rally 2 will begin to customers around the world. The first car to be delivered to this milestone event will be ROOKIE Racing, led by Morizo. Four teams will compete with the new model in the WRC2 class at the Rallye Monte-Carlo, which will be held from January 25th to 28th.
