BMW has completely redesigned the new MINI Cooper for the first time in about 10 years, releasing the three-door model on March 1, 2024. Delivery is scheduled to begin from the second quarter of 2024.

The new MINI Cooper 3 Door is a new model of the conventional MINI 3 Door. The first model was released in 2002, evolved into the second generation in 2007, and the third generation in 2013. The new model announced this time is the fourth generation model manufactured by BMW, and is positioned in the premium small compact segment, based on the hatchback model, which is MINI’s traditional core model.
The new MINI Cooper 3 Door lineup includes the new MINI Cooper E 3 Door and MINI Cooper SE 3 Door, which are electric vehicles and the first mass-produced MINI models in Japan.

The new MINI Cooper 3 Door inherits MINI DNA while sporting a new, minimalist design that symbolizes its status as a new-generation model. Design details have been adjusted to take into account differences in powertrains and aerodynamics, which affect driving range. The front face design, featuring the classic headlights and striking front grille that symbolize the iconic MINI character, is defined by the complex octagonal contours of the front grille and the new headlight design. New MINI-like features, such as three customizable LED signature lights and welcome/good-bye lights, are introduced to reflect this new generation of MINI. The signature lights allow the driver to select from three lighting patterns for the front and rear lights, allowing them to be customized to suit their mood that day. The welcome/good-bye lights are a classic MINI feature, flashing the front and rear lights as if to greet the driver when approaching or leaving the vehicle with the key in hand.

About the interior of the new BMW “MINI Cooper 3 Door”
The warm and spacious interior of the new MINI Cooper 3 door is fully digital. The instrument cluster behind the steering wheel has been eliminated, and all information necessary for driving is displayed on a head-up display. A reduction in clutter and cleverly designed, high-quality components have resulted in an open view to the front and a spacious interior. For the first time, a new material reminiscent of fabric has been used on the spacious, curved dashboard. Made from recycled polyester, this new material is easy to care for thanks to a specially developed knitting-like manufacturing process, and the new interior of the new MINI Cooper 3 door is made from this warm, new material.
The large, circular center display, made with cutting-edge OLED technology, features high-quality glass with a diameter of 240mm and optimized, highly sensitive touch functionality. It allows intuitive operation, similar to using a smartphone, with each function displayed horizontally as a widget in the main menu, operated by swiping or touching. The circular OLED display not only functions as a meter panel, but also allows all operations, including the navigation system with AR functionality, media, phone, air conditioning, and various settings, to be performed in one place.

The new MINI Cooper S 3 door and MINI Cooper SE 3 door are equipped as standard with the cutting-edge advanced safety features Driving Assist (Active Cruise Control (with Stop & Go function), Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Collision Avoidance/Damage Mitigation Braking (with Accident Avoidance Steering), and Cross Traffic Warning), which have been made more precise and accurate thanks to the high-performance camera and radar and the high analytical capabilities of a high-performance processor.

The Parking Assistant features a Surround View function that provides a clear image of the situation around the vehicle, a Parking Assist function that makes parallel and perpendicular parking easier, and a function to prevent sudden acceleration due to pedal misapplication.It also features a Reverse Assist function that memorizes the route the vehicle has taken up to 50 meters in the past at speeds of up to 35 km/h, allowing it to accurately reverse back along the same route.This function is standard equipment on the new MINI Cooper S 3 Door and MINI Cooper SE 3 Door.
