BMW announced a minor change to its compact sports car, the 2 Series Coupe, on June 13, 2024. Sales of this new model will begin in August 2024. On the same day, the official Japanese website was also updated to reflect the new model.

The BMW 2 Series Coupe underwent a full model change in Japan in March 2022, and this minor change comes approximately two years later.

About the new 2 Series Coupe minor change

The updated 2 Series Coupe gets new body colours and wheels, and a new M Sport Professional package, which includes Shadow Line trim, a black rear spoiler and M Sport brakes.

The car also features a curved display that connects a 12.3-inch digital meter and a 14.9-inch infotainment system. BMW’s operating system, BMW OS 8.5, features a new home screen, intuitive menu structure, and an improved navigation system.

The M240i gets a new leather-wrapped M steering wheel with a flat bottom, redesigned spokes and a red center stripe, and also offers heated sport seats with new interior options such as Tacora Red SensaTec and black and red Vernasca leather.

BMW 230i

The BMW 230i is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine producing 255 hp (190 kW / 259 PS) and 400 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is available as an option. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) in just 5.3 seconds.

BMW M240i

The performance M240i is powered by a turbocharged 3.0L inline-six engine producing 382 hp (285 kW / 387 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque, enabling the rear-wheel drive model to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds and the all-wheel drive model in 4.1 seconds.

BMW M2

The top-of-the-line high-performance M2 Coupe has received a power increase of approximately 4.5% over the previous model, increasing from 460 hp to 353 kW (480 hp). Acceleration response and the torque curve have also been improved. Maximum torque remains the same for the six-speed manual transmission, but increases from 56.1 kgm to 61.3 kgm for the eight-speed automatic. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is now 4.0 seconds.

In terms of driver assistance systems, the 2 Series is feature rich, as it offers forward collision warning, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, active blind spot detection, and speed limit information. Customers can also opt for active cruise control with Stop & Go, back-up assistant, and a dash cam that uses the car’s cameras to record videos up to 40 seconds long.

The price revision means the BMW 2 Series Coupe is getting a price increase, with new prices starting at $39,200 and rising to $50,100 for the M240i.
