Lexus’ first minivan, the new LM, was released on May 9, 2024, with the addition of the new LM500h (3-row, 6-passenger). The currently available LM500h EXECUTIVE is a luxurious 4-passenger model with 2 rows of seats. However, with the addition of the LM500h version L, there are now more options for a 6-passenger model with 3 rows of seats. This may increase the chances that customers considering the Alphard and Vellfire will switch to the Lexus LM.

The currently available “LM500h “EXECUTIVE”” is only available as a two-row, four-seater model.

With this partial improvement to the “LM,” a new six-seater model, the “LM500h version L,” will be added. This is expected to encourage more people to consider the “LM” along with the “Alphard” and “Vellfire.” For those who can afford it, the resale value is high, and I think it’s not that bad when you consider the total cost.

Currently, the Alphard and Vellfire only come in seven-seater models, and there seems to be a lot of demand for the six-seater LM for different reasons.

The spacious trim and overhead console create a relaxing space that respects the comfort of each individual passenger, even when carrying multiple passengers.

The second-row seats are equipped with multi-operation panels on both the left and right sides, and the rear seat overhead console has been designed with convenience in mind for the third-row passengers as well. The passenger seat headrest can not only be tilted forward, but can also be adjusted up and down. This improves the sense of openness and visibility in the rear seats, providing a more comfortable space.

The second-row seats combine two types of shock-absorbing material with different characteristics and soft upholstery to gently envelop and support occupants from when the vehicle is stopped to when it is moving. Furthermore, to suppress seat vibration caused by road impact, vibration-damping rubber is placed between the cushion frame and leg frame, significantly reducing vibration. The armrests are designed with a curved shape to position the elbows at a natural height, ensuring a comfortable posture whether in normal use or reclined. The cushion tilt and lumbar support also allow for seating positions suitable for people of various builds.

Like the second-row seats, the third-row seats also gently envelop and support occupants, with thicker seatbacks and cushions to provide a comfortable seating experience. Furthermore, the shape of the seatbacks has been optimized to maintain a natural posture even when reclining.

The second-row seat operation switch is located on the deck side of the back door opening. This allows the second-row seats to be slid and reclined from the back door side, allowing the third-row seats to be raised without interference, expanding luggage space.

BladeScan AHS The new model　employs the BladeScan® Adaptive High Beam System (AHS), a world first introduced in the RX, which underwent a facelift in August 2019. Light from an LED light source is projected onto a rapidly rotating blade mirror. This new AHS mechanism allows the light reflected from the blade mirror to travel at high speed through a lens, illuminating the road ahead. While the light does not appear to be moving due to the afterimage effect, the LED light is synchronized with the rotation of the blade mirror, turning on and off at the appropriate timing, enabling precise control of light distribution. This allows for more precise shading than conventional AHS, and by expanding the high beam’s illumination range, pedestrians and signs can be recognized more quickly without dazzling oncoming or preceding vehicles.

By installing a dedicated application on a digital key　smartphone, the smartphone can be used as a digital key for vehicles that have this function.
