On May 13, 2024, at its financial results briefing for the fiscal year ending March 2024, Subaru announced that it would jointly develop four battery EV models with Toyota Motor Corporation, including the already-on-sale Solterra, to be released by the end of 2026. Subaru also announced that production of the next-generation e-BOXER would begin in the fall of 2024.
About the jointly developed battery EV

The “jointly developed battery EV” produced at our Yajima Plant will also be supplied to Toyota Motor Corporation. Battery EVs produced at Toyota Motor Corporation’s US plant will also be supplied to us, giving us a lineup of US-produced battery EVs. Through joint development, mutual production, and mutual supply, we will be able to reduce risks together with Toyota Motor Corporation and ensure “flexibility” in the development and production areas.
Next-generation e-BOXER

In addition, the next-generation e-BOXER, based on Toyota’s hybrid system, will be installed in the next Forester , and it has now been announced that it will be expanded to include the Crosstrek .
