Who is the Freed CROSSTAR 5-seater recommended for?

The only new Freed model that can accommodate five people is the CROSSTAR. The recommended point is that it is perfect for people who do not have more than five people and who need a lot of luggage space.

Also, for those who want to sleep in the car, folding down the second row seats creates a flat space, making it very easy to use.

Only the five-seater model comes with tie-down hooks, utility side panels, a utility board for the luggage compartment, and a 12V socket in the luggage compartment.

Please note that the manufacturer’s options (adaptive driving beam + reverse exit support + 360-degree multi-view camera + LED cornering lights) cannot be selected.

Is the Freed a gasoline or hybrid car? Which is recommended?

  • We recommend hybrid cars!

The reason is the price difference.

The price of the Freed gasoline vehicle ranges from 2,508,000 yen to 3,437,500 yen.

The price of the Freed hybrid vehicle ranges from 2,857,800 yen to 3,437,500 yen.

The price difference between a gasoline car and a hybrid car is only 349,800 yen, which is quite small. Furthermore, the difference between a hybrid car and a gasoline car is somewhat smaller when you consider eco-car tax breaks. The motor torque assist makes it comfortable for everyday use, and it also has good fuel economy. Considering resale value, we recommend a hybrid car!

Difference between Freed “e:HEV AIR EX” and “e:HEV AIR”

The differences between the new Freed “e:HEV AIR EX” and “e:HEV AIR” are as follows:

  • Blind Spot Information
  • Drivability & Passenger Seat Heater
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Leather-wrapped selector lever
  • Rear cooler
  • Factory options include (adaptive driving beam + reverse exit support + 360-degree multi-view camera + LED cornering lights)
  • 15-inch aluminum wheels

The above features are not available in the base grade “e:HEV AIR”, so we do not recommend it.

Reasons why we recommend the Freed e:HEV AIR EX and the Freed e:HEV CROSSTAR

The reason we recommend these two grades is that the following equipment cannot be installed.

There is a package option that can only be installed on the six-seater Freed e:HEV AIR EX and e:HEV CROSSTAR.

The factory options (adaptive driving beam + reverse exit support + 360-degree multi-view camera + LED cornering lights) are available on grades that are strangely only available on the hybrid six-seater Freed e:HEV AIR and e:HEV CROSSTAR. Since these are optional features, it would be nice if they were available on more models.

Since blind spot information is not available on all grades, you should not choose the base grade “AIR” grade.

Blind Spot Information

Nowadays, blind spot information (blind spot monitor), which seems to be becoming standard even for other companies, seems to be unavailable for some reason on the Air grade. Well… like the above equipment, I wish safety equipment could be selected for all grades.

A word from the editorial department

This time, I explained the recommended grades of the Freed. The new Freed’s “electric parking brake” and “auto brake hold” are extremely important features and will be essential for many users. The “blind spot monitor” is also used in many current models, and its equipment and design are just as appealing as the compact Stepwagon. It will be interesting to see where the Freed ranks in sales from June and July 2024.
