The 2025 model of Porsche’s 911 992.2, the first hybrid-equipped 911 Carrera GTS, was unveiled to the world on May 28, 2024. Porsche has not released a hybrid sports car until now, so the electrification of this 911 has attracted attention from around the world. We will explain in detail what kind of model it will be.
The new 911 is currently available for order, with deliveries of the Carrera scheduled to begin this fall and the GTS at the end of the year. Prices start from 16,940,000 yen for the Carrera and 22,540,000 yen for the GTS.
Porsche’s new 911, the 992.2-type 911 Carrera GTS, is the first hybrid car to be introduced
The 911 Carrera GTS is an innovative model that is the first Porsche production model to feature a hybrid system. It is equipped with a newly developed 3.6L horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine, a “T-Hybrid” system that combines an electric turbocharger and an electric motor, and delivers astonishing performance with a maximum output of 540 PS and a maximum torque of 609 Nm.
The electric turbocharger at the heart of this “T-Hybrid” system generates boost pressure instantly, significantly improving acceleration performance. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.0 seconds, and the top speed reaches 312 km/h, a significant improvement over the previous model.
Despite being equipped with a hybrid system, the weight increase from the previous model is limited to just 50 kg, which comes at the expense of EV driving, but given the outstanding performance of the 911 Carrera GTS, it is a reasonable trade-off.

Currently, the 911 Carrera GTS is available in four variants: rear-wheel drive coupe and cabriolet, and all-wheel drive coupe and targa. All models come standard with an eight-speed PDK transmission.
Engine start button adopted
The most groundbreaking change to the new 911 is the way the engine is started. Instead of the traditional twist-and-turn key, a starter button has been adopted. Longtime Porsche fans may be disappointed.

Porsche’s new 911 992.2 2025 model: exterior changes
The new Carrera and GTS also feature a new exterior design, featuring four-point LED matrix headlights and a new rear decklid grille.
The Carrera comes standard with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, but 20- or 21-inch wheels are available as options. This includes the 911 Carrera Exclusive Design wheels with carbon fiber aero blades that reduce drag at high speeds.
Additionally, both the Carrera and GTS models can be equipped with the Porsche Sport Design aero kit, which includes a front lip spoiler, side skirts and a fixed rear wing for an even sportier look.

First fully digital 12.6-inch meter display
The interior features the first fully digital 12.6-inch instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay compatibility, and voice command control. Up to seven different display styles are available, including the iconic five-gauge setup with a central tachometer that has been a cornerstone of the driving experience for nearly 60 years. Technology upgrades include the ability to stream video on the 10.9-inch infotainment display while parked, a cooled smartphone charger, and the ability to use apps like Spotify and Apple Music without plugging in your phone.
