General Motors Japan will announce the Corvette E-Ray, Chevrolet’s first-ever electrified and all-wheel drive Corvette, on June 1, 2024, with reservations opening on June 7, 2024. It will be released in Japan on June 7, 2024, priced at 23.5 million yen. Reservations will be accepted from 10:00 AM on Friday, June 7, 2024, until 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 30, 2024, with advance orders determined by lottery. As the number of models available in Japan is limited, deliveries will begin in 2025 on a first-come, first-served basis.
About the new Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray
The Corvette E-Ray is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 LT2 engine and an electric four-wheel drive system, producing 502 horsepower and 65.0 kgm of torque. An electric motor mounted in the floor tunnel delivers 162 horsepower and 12.7 kgm of torque to the front wheels via a 1.9 kWh battery pack. With a total system output of 664 horsepower/481 kW, it accelerates from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds and completes the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds, making it the fastest production Corvette ever.
The E-Ray is equipped with a dedicated electric all-wheel drive system called “eAWD,” an innovative system in which a motor drives the front axle and a V8 engine drives the rear axle.
When selected at start, Stealth Mode allows for a period of all-electric driving before the engine engages. Designed for silent departures, this mode allows for a top speed of 45 mph (approximately 72 km/h). The engine automatically engages if the speed limit is exceeded, additional torque is required, or the battery pack is depleted. Additionally, E-Ray’s eAWD control system applies torque to the front axle as needed, and the Charge+ feature can be used to maximize battery charge during extended journeys. A custom-designed Performance Traction Management (PTM) mode is optimized in conjunction with the eAWD system.

The Japanese model comes standard with the “ZER Performance Package,” which combines Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S summer tires with E-Ray’s exclusive ZER Performance suspension with Magnetic Selective Ride Control. This dramatically improves handling and grip. It also comes equipped with dark gray metallic calipers and carbon ceramic brakes, which improve fade resistance and significantly reduce unsprung weight, providing excellent safety and drivability while also supporting high comfort.
