Land Rover has announced the latest Defender model, the Defender OCTA , which significantly improves on the performance of the previous Defender, making it the most powerful and fastest Defender yet.
The Defender Octa will be produced on July 3, 2024, with a worldwide production run of just 1,070 units. In Japan, 20 units of the Defender Octa EDITION ONE and 200 units of the regular Defender Octa will be introduced. The Defender Octa will be priced at 20,370,000 yen, while the Defender Octa EDITION ONE will be priced at 22,240,000 yen.
It will be unveiled to the public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024, taking place from 11th to 14th July 2024, with orders officially opening soon.
About the new Land Rover “Defender OCTA” “Top-of-the-line model”
This new model is based on the Defender 110 and is equipped with a BMW 4.4L twin-turbo V8 mild-hybrid gasoline engine. Maximum power output has been increased to 635 PS and torque to 76.5 kgm, and it’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore , ground clearance has been increased by 28 mm, the vehicle width has been increased by 68 mm, and the 6D Dynamics air suspension provides stable driving both on and off-road. With 400 mm front disc brakes with Brembo calipers and a quick steering ratio, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h. Maximum wading depth has also been increased from 900 mm in the standard model to 1000 mm.
The new Defender OCTA is designed specifically for robustness and superior off-road capability. It sits higher and has a wider stance than lesser models, and features longer, stronger wishbones for improved wheel articulation. New 6D Dynamics suspension technology reduces pitching and body roll on the road and improves articulation off-road. It also features a system that automatically detects and optimizes for the road surface it is driving on.
The exterior features a two-tone paint scheme with 33-inch Goodyear Advanced All-Terrain tires and a Narvik Black roof and tailgate. The interior is available with a new Ultrafabric option featuring Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather and Kvadrat textile trim. Additionally, a new audio system allows front seat passengers to immerse themselves in the music. The Defender OCTA stands out as the ultimate cross-country SUV, combining performance and robustness.
The name “OCTA”
The name “OCTA” is inspired by the octahedron shape of a diamond, the hardest and rarest natural substance in nature, to reflect the luxury character of this model.
