On August 6, 2024, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association (JADA) and the All Japan Light Motor Vehicle Association (ZENK) announced the preliminary figures for passenger car sales by model name and new light four-wheel vehicle sales by common name for July 2024. The top-selling light vehicle was the N-BOX, with 16,500 units sold.
Passenger car ranking
Among passenger cars, Toyota’s Corolla took the lead with 14,622 units sold. In second place was the Toyota Yaris with 11,617 units, and in third place was the Toyota Sienta with 11,441 units. The Daihatsu Roomy, a regular in the minicar rankings but affected by the suspension of sales due to Daihatsu’s fraud scandal , rounded out the top four. The top four cars all sold over 10,000 units.

In the minicar category, the Honda N-BOX took the top spot with 16,500 units sold. In second place was the Suzuki Spacia with 13,073 units sold, and in third place was the Daihatsu Tanto with 12,576 units sold. Daihatsu is a regular in the minicar rankings, but was affected by the suspension of sales due to the Daihatsu fraud scandal , and now the Tanto has finally made it into the top three.
