Toyota’s direct tuning brand, GRMN, is expected to release a new sports car, the GRMN Supra, around April 2025. Here’s a detailed look at what kind of model it will be.
The GRMN Supra is a fully tuned model of the GR Supra, honed using Toyota’s motorsports technology and professional drivers. Development is currently underway and test runs have begun between 2023 and 2024. Spy shots have been taken of the prototype undergoing test runs at Germany’s Nürburgring, and images have been provided. It’s possible that the GRMN Supra Prototype may be exhibited at events such as Tokyo Auto Salon 2025, scheduled to be held from January 10th (Friday) to 12th (Sunday) 2025.
What is the GRMN Supra?
GRMN stands for “GAZOO Racing Meister of Nürburgring,” and refers to the ultimate sports model, into which Toyota’s motorsports division, GAZOO Racing, has generously incorporated the technology it has cultivated at the Nürburgring. As its name suggests, the GRMN Supra is the most powerful Supra, maximizing the Supra’s potential.
The rarity of limited production
The GRMN Supra is expected to be a limited production model. Like past GRMN models, it will be a highly sought-after model. Therefore, it is important for potential buyers to gather information and inquire with dealers early.
Expected specs for the new GRMN Supra
The GRMN is a limited-edition, top-of-the-line series designed for circuit racing. Previous GRMN models used dry carbon fiber body panels. Additionally, the car will feature a large rear wing . The powertrain has also been specifically tuned for the GR, significantly enhancing dynamic performance. The body will be further strengthened, and the high-performance suspension and brake system will be even more advanced and exclusive to the GR. The base model is likely to be the Supra ‘s premium RZ 3.0L inline-6 twin-turbo engine, with 250kW (340ps) at 5,000-6,500rpm and 500Nm (51.0kgm) at 1,600-4,500rpm, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Engine power output may be significantly increased compared to the standard model. It will be interesting to see if it surpasses the 309kW (420ps) maximum output of Nissan’s Fairlady Z NISMO .

Toyota’s new GR Supra, fully redesigned A90 model
Toyota released the new GR Supra A90 model on May 17, 2019, after a full model change. Toyota and BMW announced the joint development of the new Supra and the new Z4. The two cars share many common features, including the platform and engine.
The new BMW Z4 will have an open-top (roadster) body style, while the new Supra will have a coupe body style. The platform and engine of the new Supra are basically handled by BMW, while the exterior and interior designs are handled independently by Toyota.

New BMW Z4

Toyota Supra
Toyota could have developed the car on its own, but the development costs for a sports car would be very high. Furthermore, sales volume would not have been high. By co-developing the car with BMW, it was possible to reduce costs and lower the sales price.
Compared to the Supra A80, the overall length is reduced by 140mm, the overall width by 55mm, the overall height by 20mm, and the wheelbase by 80mm. Despite the shorter overall length, the Supra retains the same long-nose, short-deck design as the A80, resulting in a modern sports car. By shortening the overall length, achieving a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, and increasing the overall width, stability and body rigidity have been improved, allowing for a sportier driving experience.
