About the Acura Integra Type S HRC Prototype

Acura has unveiled the Integra Type S HRC Prototype, showcasing the potential of custom parts for street and track performance. This model is based on the Honda Civic Type R’s sibling, the Integra Type S, and has been developed with the aim of further improving performance.

The prototype, which debuted at Monterey Car Week, was developed in collaboration with Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) engineers and incorporates elements from the Integra Type S TCX race car. Acura has hinted that these parts may be available commercially in the future, but nothing has been confirmed.

The exterior features an aggressive front fascia, a carbon fiber rear wing, and carbon fiber parts for weight reduction. It also features a carbon fiber hood, rear doors, and Recaro bucket seats, with a carbon fiber shelf installed in place of the rear seats. The air conditioning is also removable, resulting in an overall weight reduction of approximately 200 pounds.
The engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, and is equipped with a large intercooler, twin oil coolers, a lightweight cat-back exhaust system, etc. to further improve performance. Specific horsepower and torque figures have not been announced, but driving performance has definitely been improved.

Additionally, the car features coilover suspension, adjustable rear anti-roll bars, and front and rear camber plates to improve vehicle stability. The braking system has also been strengthened, with 15-inch two-piece front rotors and six-piston Brembo calipers to support the engine’s performance. Larger air ducts have also been added to improve brake cooling.
Acura aims for these HRC parts to enhance performance driving and deepen the bond between Acura and Honda fans. The prototype is designed to be entirely functional, with no unnecessary elements whatsoever.

A word from the editorial department
The Integra Type S HRC Prototype not only demonstrates Acura’s commitment to high-performance models, but also hints at the potential for future customization parts, which, if available, will make the Integra Type S even more desirable.
The Acura Integra Type S HRC Prototype is truly a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.” At first glance, it looks like an ordinary sedan, but underneath, it has been transformed into a high-spec machine capable of circuit racing. This car symbolizes Acura’s serious pursuit of performance, and expectations are high for its future commercial release.
However, the price is a concern. With all these modifications, it’s inevitable that the price will be significantly higher than the base vehicle. Still, there’s no doubt that this prototype has captured the hearts of many car enthusiasts. We’ll be keeping an eye on Acura’s future developments.
