About the 2025 Toyota Highlander minor change and 25th anniversary special edition

The Toyota Highlander debuted at the 2000 New York Auto Show and became a hit, selling more than one million units in the seven years that followed. Now, 25 years later, Toyota is celebrating the success of this pioneering vehicle with a special edition model. The special edition model is based on the Highlander Hybrid Limited AWD and features silver accents and 20-inch wheels. It’s available in two exterior colors: Heavy Metal and Wind Chill Pearl.

The interior also gets a special finish, with the Portobello Brown leather seats embossed with “25th Edition.”

In addition, special paddle logo lamps, door sill plates, and special floor mats are also included, creating a luxurious space. The rear tailgate is also badged “HIGHLANDER 25th Edition.”

In terms of equipment, the car comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia System, three-zone automatic climate control, a premium audio system with 11 JBL speakers, and the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ driver assistance system as standard.

This 25th anniversary model will be limited to 2,500 units sold in the US, but pricing has yet to be announced.

Additionally, the new body colors include “Cement” and “Heavy Metal.” XSE Turbo models now feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a sporty startup screen, and all hybrid models now feature “Beyond Zero” badging and all-wheel drive as standard. Toyota logos are also standard across all trim levels, providing a consistent look.

Two powertrains are available: a 3.5L V6 engine has been replaced with a 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, producing 265 hp and 310 lb.-ft of torque, while the hybrid model combines a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with three electric motors and a nickel-metal hydride battery pack for a combined maximum output of 243 hp and fuel economy of up to 35 mpg.
