McLaren Automotive unveiled the new supercar “McLaren W1” to the world on October 6, 2024. As the successor to the McLaren F1 and McLaren P1, this model is positioned as the ultimate embodiment of McLaren’s supercar philosophy and will be produced in a limited run of 399 units, with prices starting from approximately 2 million pounds (approximately 387.4 million yen). All units have already sold out.
About McLaren’s new supercar “McLaren W1”

McLaren W1
The pinnacle of McLaren’s supercars, the “1” title, is a testament to its status as No. 1, an honor bestowed only on cars that embody McLaren’s ideals in their ultimate form. The McLaren W1 inherits the legends of the McLaren F1 and McLaren P1. Equipped with a hybrid powertrain combining a 4.0-liter V8 engine and electric motor, the most powerful McLaren to date, delivering 1275 PS and 1340 Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, from 0-200 km/h in just 5.8 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 350 km/h, making it the fastest road-legal McLaren ever. Its speed is so great that it beats the track-only Senna on McLaren’s Nardo test circuit by three seconds per lap. The McLaren W1 will carve its place in McLaren history as a new legend.

The body size is 4,635mm in length, 1,182mm in height, 2,074mm in width, and a wheelbase of 2,680mm, and the vehicle weight has been kept to 1,399kg through the extensive use of carbon fiber.
This incredible performance is the result of a combination of F1-inspired ground effect aerodynamics and McLaren Race Mode. The W1’s form is surprisingly clean for an aerodynamically focused design, with a pronounced hammerhead nose and tight teardrop cabin profile, culminating in the McLaren Active Longtail Wing. In Race mode, the car’s ride height is lowered by 37mm at the front and 17mm at the rear, delivering up to 1000kg of downforce, dramatically transforming the car’s driving characteristics from road to track.

McLaren W1
The W1 isn’t just fast; it’s also lightweight. It achieves a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 911 PS/tonne and is rear-wheel drive, paying homage to McLaren’s racing heritage. The brakes are fitted with the McLaren Carbon Ceramic Racing+ (MCCR+) system, with 390mm brake discs featuring an added ceramic layer that not only provides greater durability but also allows for stronger brake pads and higher friction levels.
The interior is driver-centric, with access to the McLaren Infotainment System (MIS II) on a high-resolution 8-inch touchscreen. This includes Apple CarPlay via USB-C, and USB-A for device charging and storage access. A minimalist design includes fixed seats, and bespoke options are available from MSO, allowing owners to personalise their vehicle to reflect their individual needs.

McLaren W1
The McLaren W1 is a true supercar that embodies McLaren’s technology and passion.
A word from the editorial department
The McLaren W1 is truly a dream supercar! Not only is its price tag of 390 million yen impressive, but the fact that it’s already sold out is also surprising. With a generous amount of F1 technology, it looks just like a racing machine that can run on public roads. What kind of driving experience will the owners of the limited edition of 399 units have? We’re truly envious!
