The monthly sales target for the new 40-series Alphard is 5,950 units when it is announced on June 21, 2023. With current production capacity, 5,000 to 6,000 units is the best, so this is roughly in line with the target. If orders exceed 5,000 units per month, this means that delivery times will be extended accordingly.

Toyota Alphard 40 Series: What are the trends in new car sales and production? How many units have been sold over the past two years? Toyota’s new Alphard (40 series) underwent a full model change on June 21, 2023. It has gained popularity as a synonym for luxury minivans, but how many units have been sold and produced?

Rumors about delivery dates for the new Toyota Alphard

Currently, it is said that the delivery time for the Alphard is being extended due to various issues, and this is due to the impact of Toyota Industries’ certification fraud announced on January 29, 2024. Furthermore, it is said that there is also a labor shortage at the factory, and finally, there is the issue of quality. Increasing production volume will also lead to quality issues, so it seems that a certain production volume is necessary…

Toyota New Alphard: What options would you like to add to increase resale value?

Toyota Teammate Advanced Park + Parking Brake Support

It’s standard on the Executive Lounge and Z Premier models. The new Alphard also comes standard with the next-generation Toyota Safety Sense . It’s great that it’s packed with features, but even though the car already has a full complement of safety equipment (it’s a manufacturer option on the Z), it’s definitely worth adding.

Advanced Park

After stopping next to the desired parking space, press the Advanced Park switch to confirm the parking position. Then, when you press the Start switch, the system will monitor the surroundings and assist with steering, acceleration, and braking to complete the parking operation (shift operation is manual).

Advanced Park (with remote function) Hybrid vehicle

Hybrid cars are available exclusively, and by operating a dedicated smartphone app from outside the car, you can park and exit remotely. If you want to do this, then a hybrid car is definitely the way to go.

Parking Support Brake (Stationary Objects) [Intelligent Clearance Sonar]

When parking or driving at low speeds, if there is a risk of colliding with a wall or other stationary object, or if the vehicle accelerates suddenly due to accidentally or overly pressing the accelerator pedal, or when starting off by accidentally putting the gear lever in the wrong position, the system will activate if the sensor detects a stationary object moving in front of or behind the vehicle to help mitigate the collision and reduce the damage caused by the collision.

Digital inner mirror

The “Executive Lounge” is standard equipment. It is a manufacturer option for the “Z Premier,” “Z,” and “G.” If you have many passengers in the back seat or a lot of luggage in the trunk, we recommend installing the “Digital Inner Mirror.”

Universal step (both sides)

The “Executive Lounge,” “Z Premier,” “Z,” and “G” models all have a manufacturer option. It’s recommended for those with elderly passengers or small children in the back seat. The downside is that you won’t be able to install a spare tire. While a spare tire may be fine from an export perspective, a universal step is a good idea for the domestic market.

Twin dimming panoramic roof

The seats feature a “super long overhead console” and a “twin dimming panoramic roof .” These are optional features for the “Alphard” and “Z” grades, so we recommend adding them.

Toyota’s new Alphard, partially improved in 2024, price and grade forecast

Toyota had planned to make some improvements to the new 40-series Alphard and add a base grade “X” model in June 2024, but this has been postponed and now changed to around August 2024. ( This may also be changed due to the impact of Toyota Industries Corporation’s certification fraud, which was announced on January 29, 2024. )

The new Alphard will be available in three grades: the top-of-the-line Executive Lounge, the mid-range Z, and the entry-level X. (The previous model had eight grades: X, S, SC, SR, G, GF, SC, and Executive Lounge.) The new Vellfire will be available in two grades: Executive Lounge and Z Premium.

Alphard price grade

The price differs by approximately 4 million yen between the X grade, which is approximately 4,620,000 yen, and the higher-end Executive Lounge, which is 8,500,000 yen.

Toyota’s new “Alphard” specifications

The hybrid system for the 2.5L engine tuned for the new Alphard and Vellfire has been completely redesigned.  The 2.5L THS II achieves superior power performance and fuel economy at a high level through compact, lightweight, and low-loss technologies, combined with the synergy between the high combustion efficiency and high output of the new TNGA-based engine. It delivers high-speed acceleration and a direct feel that completely redefines the hybrid vehicle experience. In addition to improved system efficiency at highway speeds, intermittent engine operation is enabled even at high speeds, improving fuel economy at high speeds. Looking at the specs, fuel economy comparable to that of older compact cars (17.5-17.7km/L) and a maximum system output of 184W (250hp) provide excellent driving performance. When considering resale value, a hybrid is the obvious choice.

Delivery status as of July 2024

As of July 2024, delivery times for the new Alphard vary greatly depending on the grade, options, and dealer. Generally, delivery times for hybrid vehicles are longer than for gasoline-powered vehicles , taking at least a few months and sometimes more than a year .

Reasons for long delivery times

The main reasons for the long delivery time for the new Alphard are as follows:

  1. Delays in parts supply due to semiconductor shortages and other factors The impact of the global semiconductor shortage continues, affecting automobile production as well.
  2. The new Alphard is gaining popularity due to its luxurious interior and exterior, comfortable ride, and latest safety features, and orders are flooding in.

How to speed up delivery times

There are three ways to shorten the delivery time of the new Alphard.

  2. Contact multiple dealers . The delivery time may vary depending on the dealer. Contact multiple dealers and choose the one that can deliver the car the fastest.
  3. You may be able to expedite delivery by waiting for a cancellation . However, whether or not you can wait for a cancellation varies depending on the retailer, so you should check in advance.

Future delivery date forecast

It is expected that the delivery time for the new Alphard will gradually shorten in the future as the semiconductor shortage is resolved and production systems are strengthened.

However, as this is a popular model, it is expected that it will take some time for delivery to take place.

summary

As of November 2024, the delivery time for the new Alphard is still long.

However, you may be able to speed up delivery by taking measures such as avoiding popular grades and options, contacting multiple dealers, and waiting for cancellations.
