New Corvette Exterior: More Aggressive, More Stylish

This update brings Corvette’s sophisticated exterior to the next level, with eight vibrant exterior colors, including the new Sebring Orange Tintcoat, designed to draw attention.

Additionally, the adoption of a newly designed rear spoiler creates more dynamic proportions and an aggressive, cutting-edge personality.

New Corvette Interior: High-Quality and Individuality

The interior has also been improved, with the 2LT Coupe’s steering wheel now featuring a stitched leather airbag cover, similar to the 3LT Coupe, instead of the previous plastic cover.

The 3LT Coupe and Convertible now offer two new interior colors, Natural and Adrenaline Red Dipped, for a total of six colors to choose from, expanding the range of options for expressing individuality.

New Corvette: Fully equipped to support driving performance

A front lift height adjuster has been added as an option to the 2LT Coupe (standard on the 3LT Coupe and Convertible). This allows the front end to be lifted approximately 50mm at speeds up to 40km/h, allowing for stress-free driving over bumps and slopes.

New Corvette Z06: Taking it to new heights

The Corvette Z06, a performance model designed for track driving, has been further improved with this update, significantly expanding the color options available, with the body color options now expanded from three to eight and the interior color options now expanded from one to six.

Price of the new Chevrolet Corvette

The price of the new Chevrolet Corvette starts at 14.2 million yen. Due to improvements, the price has increased for all grades except the Corvette 2LT and the Corvette E-Ray, which was added in June 2024.

Model Price (10%)
Chevrolet Corvette 2LT Coupe 14,200,000 yen
Chevrolet Corvette 3LT Coupe 16,950,000 yen
Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 18,450,000 yen
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 3LZ Coupe 25,800,000 yen

Corvette Sophisticated Exterior Design

The exterior of the new Chevrolet Corvette C8 has undergone a major change from the previous generation, adopting a mid-engine layout.

While the front design retains the same image as the previous generation, the rear has been increased in volume to accommodate the engine. The body style has been designed for aerodynamic performance, generating large downforce.

The coupe has a targa top on the roof, allowing you to enjoy the open air. When removed, the roof can be stored in the luggage space behind the engine.

Comparing the new Corvette to its predecessor, the overall styling has been tweaked and the image has been carried over: the cabin has been moved forward to accommodate the rear-mounted engine, and the front end has a more pronounced slope.

Corvette Electric Hardtop: Corvette Convertible

The new Chevrolet Corvette is available as an electrically open Corvette Convertible.

The base model is equipped with a targa top, allowing you to enjoy the open air, but the convertible is the first to feature a lightweight electric hardtop that can be opened or closed in 16 seconds at speeds of up to 48 km/h. A deflector is installed behind the driver to reduce wind noise when driving with the top down.

The engine is the same as the coupe, but the springs and dampers have been specially tuned to deliver performance on par with the coupe.

Corvette body size: changes due to mid-engine layout

The body size of the new Chevrolet Corvette has been increased by adopting a mid-engine layout.

Chevrolet new Corvette body size

item size
Total length x width x height 4630×1940×1225mm (base model), 4685×2025×1225mm (Corvette Z06)
Wheelbase 2725mm
Vehicle weight 1670kg (convertible: +30kg)
Passenger capacity 2 people

The overall length of the base vehicle has been significantly increased by 135 mm from the previous model, and the overall width has also been widened. This has made it possible to obtain large downforce at high speeds. The Corvette Convertible’s lightweight roof made of composite material has reduced the weight increase compared to the coupe.

Corvette Interior: Driver-Centric

The interior of the new Chevrolet Corvette C8 is designed with the driver in mind, creating a space that allows you to concentrate on driving.

The interior makes effective use of leather and stitching, and the meter is a digital instrument panel that provides the driver with a wealth of information in an easy-to-understand manner. The infotainment system can also be tilted significantly towards the driver, allowing the driver to instantly check the machine’s status.

The vehicle’s controls are arranged vertically to separate it from the navigation seat, creating a unique interior space. The audio system is a premium model by BOSE.

In addition to the luggage space at the front, there is also a large space at the rear, despite the midship layout, so you can load a golf bag or travel bag and enjoy leisure activities.

Corvette Z06 with Corvette Racing engine

The new Chevrolet Corvette is available as a high-performance internal combustion engine model, the Corvette Z06.

The Corvette Z06 is only available as a coupe in Japan, but a convertible is also available overseas. The body width is 85mm wider at 2025mm, and it is fitted with 275/30ZR20 tires in the front and 345/25ZR21 tires in the rear.

Aerodynamic performance has also been improved, with enlarged air intakes efficiently supplying clean air to the engine and brakes, and a special front splitter and rear spoiler are also included.

The engine is a naturally aspirated LT6 5.5L V8 derived from the C8.R racing car, and combines high strength and light weight with a flat-plane crankshaft, double overhead cams, a racing-style dry sump system, forged aluminum pistons, and forged titanium connecting rods.

This allows the car to produce 646ps/63.6kgm, significantly exceeding the 502ps of the Z51 package, the higher grade of the base model, and reduces the 0-96km/h acceleration time from 2.9 seconds to 2.6 seconds.

The suspension is equipped with Magnetic Selective Ride Control 4.0, which provides optimal ride comfort from the circuit to urban areas, and the brakes are equipped with Brembo rotors measuring 370mm in the front and 380mm in the rear, with 6-piston calipers in the front and 4-piston calipers in the rear.

The driving system employs optimized traction control and an electronically controlled limited slip differential.

The interior is finished to be both lightweight and high-quality, and is equipped with a carbon fiber steering wheel and shift paddles.

First 4WD Hybrid: Corvette E-Ray

The Chevrolet Corvette offers the Corvette E-Ray, a high-performance hybrid model.

The Corvette E-Ray is Corvette’s first all-wheel drive hybrid model. It combines the base model’s 6.2L LT2 V8 engine with a 162 hp/16.8 kgm electric motor that drives the front wheels, resulting in a total system output of 664 hp.

Although the car’s weight has increased from 1,670 kg to 1,800 kg, the 0-60 mph time has been reduced to 2.5 seconds, down from 2.6 seconds for the high-performance Corvette Z06 with an internal combustion engine. This is due to the all-wheel drive and the instant torque of the electric motor. The quarter-mile time is also reduced to 10.5 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the Corvette Z06.

Luggage space has been reduced by 2 liters compared to the internal combustion engine model, and half of the V8 engine’s cylinders are shut down to extend the driving time under low loads.

Like the Corvette Z06, it has an 85mm wider body and is equipped with lightweight carbon ceramic brakes to improve driving performance.

Corvette Powerful Powertrain

The new Chevrolet Corvette has a midship layout, and the base model is equipped with a rear-mounted 6.2L LT2 V8 engine.

Chevrolet’s new Corvette C8 powertrain and specs

Model engine Maximum power Maximum torque 0-96km/h acceleration
Base model V type 8 cylinder 6.2L “LT2” 497ps (base model), 502ps (Z51 package) 65.0kgm 3.0 seconds (base model), 2.9 seconds (Z51 package)
Corvette Z06 V8 cylinder 5.5L “LT6” 646ps 63.6kgm 2.6 seconds
Corvette E-Ray 6.2L V8 “LT2” + electric motor 502ps (engine), 162ps (motor), 664ps (system total) 65.0kgm (engine), 16.8kgm (motor) 2.5 seconds

The transmission is an 8-speed dual-clutch, and the drive system is either MR or AWD (Corvette E-Ray). The same engine displacement was also used in the previous model C7 Corvette, which produced 466 horsepower, but the new Corvette produces 497 horsepower in the base model and 502 horsepower with the Z51 package, which is standard equipment in Japan.

To handle cornering performance exceeding 1G, a dry sump lubrication system is used for oil circulation, ensuring stable performance.

The new Corvette C8’s transmission has been changed from the previous model’s 8-speed automatic to a newly developed 8-speed dual-clutch system, shortening gear shift times. A low gear ratio in first gear improves traction, while close ratios in second through sixth gears improve performance on the circuit. Seventh and eighth gears have higher ratios, improving comfort and fuel economy on long drives.

In addition to the Weather, Tour, Sport and Track driving modes available in the previous model, new modes have been added: My Mode and Z Mode, which allows the driver to adjust the engine and transmission.

The 0-96 km/h acceleration time has been reduced to 3.0 seconds for the base model and 2.9 seconds for the Z51 Performance Package, thanks in part to the increased traction provided by moving the engine to the rear.

The evolved Chevrolet Corvette

The improved Chevrolet new Corvette was released in Japan on December 19, 2024. Chevrolet hopes to enhance its brand power by improving the Corvette.

Its overwhelming performance and sophisticated design will captivate many sports car enthusiasts. Come experience its appeal for yourself at the authorized Chevrolet dealer network.
