Tesla’s new Model Y: Exterior design that hints at the future

The exterior of the new Model Y further evolves Tesla’s futuristic design language, featuring sharp, dynamic shapes inspired by the Cybertruck and Cybercab.

The front mask features split headlights and a full-width LED light bar, creating a bold impression. The bumper design is reminiscent of the Model 3 Highland, but slim side intakes have been added to create a more sporty look.

The rear of the car features Tesla’s first “indirect reflective body panel taillights,” a full-width dark light strip that creates a Tron-like glow and a futuristic rear view. The tailgate design has also been simplified, and a larger rear diffuser emphasizes the car’s sporty look.

The overall length of the car has increased by 41 mm to 4,792 mm. New 20-inch Helix 2.0 wheels are now standard, with aerodynamic 19-inch Crossflow wheels also available in some markets. A new body color, Glacier Blue, has been added, adding a vibrant blue that stands out with its individuality.

Tesla’s new Model Y: sophisticated interior

The interior maintains Tesla’s signature minimalist design while being improved for increased comfort and functionality.

The infotainment display has been enlarged from 15 inches to 15.4 inches, and a new 8-inch touchscreen has been installed in the rear seats, allowing rear seat passengers to operate entertainment, air conditioning, and more, improving comfort.

The seats have been redesigned, with ventilation added to the front seats, while the rear seats are power reclining and can be folded flat.

The dashboard, centre console and door cards have also been redesigned, with ambient lighting, soft-touch materials and, on the Launch Series, vegan suede inserts for an enhanced premium feel.

The steering wheel, unlike the Model 3 Highland, retains the traditional indicator stick, but the gear selector has been integrated into the center display for simpler operation.

The audio system has also been revamped, with hidden speakers for improved sound quality.

Tesla’s new Model Y improves quietness and ride comfort

The new Model Y also focuses on quietness and ride comfort. Thanks to improved aerodynamics, acoustic glass, retuned suspension, and noise-optimized tires, the interior is surprisingly quiet.

Handling has also been improved thanks to an improved suspension, with more responsive steering for a sportier driving experience.

Tesla New Model Y Powertrain and Range

The new Model Y will initially be available in two trim levels: an entry-level RWD (rear-wheel drive) and a long-range AWD (all-wheel drive).

Tesla hasn’t disclosed battery capacity, but has announced a WLTP range of 466km for the RWD model and 551km for the Long Range AWD model, which is an increase of 11km and 18km, respectively, compared to the current model.

Charging performance maintains a maximum charging speed of 250kW, and using a fast charger it is possible to charge enough fuel to cover 266km of driving in 15 minutes.

The RWD model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the Long Range AWD model takes 4.3 seconds, both of which are faster than the current model. Top speed is limited to 201 km/h.

A more powerful Model Y Performance is also planned for the future. This model will feature the same 510 horsepower dual motors as the improved Model 3 Performance, as well as adaptive damping, Track Mode V3, and an aggressive body kit.

Tesla New Model Y Price

The price is 5,950,000 yen for the RWD and 6,839,000 yen for the long range AWD.

Tesla’s New Model Y: A Revolutionary SUV Leading the Future of EVs

The new Model Y is an SUV that embodies Tesla’s innovative technology and design philosophy and leads the way in the future of EVs. With a stylish exterior, sophisticated interior, excellent driving performance, and cutting-edge technology, it will set a new standard for EVs.

Through improvements to the Model Y, Tesla aims to convey the appeal of EVs to more people and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
