Jeep announced the addition of a new model of its compact SUV, the Renegade e-Hybrid, in Japan on June 5, 2025. It will be released on July 5, 2025, priced at 5.44 million yen.

The newly developed Renegade e-Hybrid combines a 1.5-liter inline-four, direct-injection turbocharged engine (maximum output: 131 PS, maximum torque: 240 Nm) with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (7-speed DCT) featuring a 48V motor that delivers a maximum output of 20 PS and maximum torque of 55 Nm. This advanced hybrid system allows the vehicle to run on electric power alone at low speeds (approximately 15-20 km/h), enabling smooth and quiet starts. When the motor’s load increases, the engine seamlessly kicks in to assist powerful acceleration. Furthermore, during deceleration, braking energy is efficiently converted into electricity for regenerative charging, minimizing fuel consumption. This results in excellent fuel economy of 17.7 km/L in WLTC mode, a significant improvement over the previous gasoline model (14.3 km/L).

This allows the car to travel approximately 50 km on charged electricity alone, expanding the range of electrified vehicles available.

The current price range for the Renegade is 4.55 million yen for the 1.3-liter gasoline model “Limited (FF)”, 5.44 million yen for the newly introduced 1.5-liter mild hybrid “e-Hybrid (FF)”, 6.35 million yen for the plug-in hybrid “Limited 4xe (4WD)”, and 6.4 million yen for the “Trailhawk 4xe (4WD)”. Jeep’s unique off-road capabilities and safety

The Jeep Renegade, especially the Trailhawk model, is adorned with a “Trail Rated” badge, a mark of its ability to traverse the Rubicon Trail, a mecca for off-roaders in the US where Jeep tests its production vehicles, and its off-road performance is guaranteed. The Trailhawk’s 4WD system employs Jeep Active Drive Low, which can automatically switch from 4×2 to 4×4 depending on the driving conditions.

The Select-Terrain System is also standard equipment, and by switching the driving mode to one of five modes – “AUTO,” “SNOW,” “SAND,” “MUD,” or “ROCK” – excellent driving stability is ensured in all road conditions.
